Rainier Guest Services Wins Bid to Manage Concessions at Mount Rainier National Park
FAIRFAX, Va., Oct. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rainier Guest Services has won the bid to manage the lodging, food, retail and visitor service concessions at Mount Rainier National Park in Washington State. The initial term of the contract is 10 years, with a possible five-year extension. Rainier Guest Services, LLC is a subsidiary of Guest Services, Inc., a national hospitality management company and National Park Service concessionaire. Guest Services had been the concessionaire at Mount Rainier since 1972.
The Mount Rainier concessions contract includes the historic Paradise Inn (built in 1916) and the National Park Inn at Longmire, with 146 rooms total; also included are the National Park Inn Gift Shop, housed in a historic cabin built in 1911; the Jackson Visitor Center; and the Sunrise Day Lodge.
Rainier Guest Services plans significant enhancements over the initial term of the contract, including replacing or converting the existing vehicle fleet to propane fueled alternatives; funding interpretive services in the Paradise Inn; installing interpretive kiosks in three food locations to display nutrition and sustainability information; installing in-room energy management systems for 154 rooms; and composting systems in the hotel kitchens.

Guest Services is a private hospitality company and National Park Service concessionaire that has provided food, lodging, retail and recreation services since 1917. The Fairfax, Virginia-based company and its subsidiaries employ in excess of 3,500 staff at more than 250 facilities that welcome approximately 25 million guests annually across the United States. Additional National Park Service contracts include food, retail and recreation services at the National Mall and Memorial Parks in Washington, DC and National Capital Region parks, and food and lodging services at Stehekin in North Cascades National Park. Guest Services also manages food, lodging and recreation services at state parks in West Virginia, New York and California.
