Radware Awarded Contract to Upgrade Existing Network Protection System for a Leading U.S. National Cellular Network Provider
Radware's real-time attack mitigation system selected to replaces carrier's existing security appliance against online threats
MAHWAH, New Jersey, December 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Radware® (NASDAQ: RDWR), a leading provider of application delivery and application security solutions for virtual and cloud data centers, announced a contract award from a national mobile communications carrier in the U.S. for its Attack Mitigation System (AMS) to protect against known and emerging network security threats.
This current contract award is part of a multi-million dollar enhancement to its capabilities, in order to provide secure internet access and mitigate DoS based attacks on internal customer-facing networks throughout multiple locations in the United States.
The national mobile communications carrier selected Radware's AMS because of its ability to support both behavioral-based and signature-based protections, known as the Network Behavioral Analysis (NBA) module.
Radware employs a patented behavioral-based real-time signature technology that creates baselines of normal network, application and user behavior. When an anomalous behavior is detected as an attack the NBA module creates a real-time signature on- the-fly that uses the attack characteristics and start blocking the attack immediately, all without the need for human intervention and without blocking legitimate user traffic. In case of DDoS attacks, it injects the real-time signature into the DME hardware offloading the main CPUs from the excessive unwanted traffic.
Along with NBA, Radware's AMS includes the Intrusion Prevention System (IPS). A module based on stateful static signature detection technology with periodic signature updates and emergency updates in case of newly discovered high risk attacks, as well as Denial-of-Service (DoS) Protection and Reputation Engine to fully protect networks against known and emerging network security threats.
"We are pleased to continue a strong relationship with our customer and value the trust they've placed with Radware," says Mark McIlvane, vice president, Carrier Sales, North America, Radware. "Today's threats have increased and constantly test the vulnerability of a network. However, we are confident that our customer will be able to maintain their IT infrastructure as our Attack Mitigation System contains a multi-layered approach in order to combat these attacks and ensure network availability."
