LOS ANGELES, July 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- TEN: The Enthusiast Network announced today that its newest exclusive addition to Motor Trend OnDemand's programming lineup, Put Up or Shut Up—the ultimate head-to-head racing series—will premiere on the world's largest automotive SVOD service on July 20.
Each month, Put Up or Shut Up's show host, NHRA and HOT ROD Drag Week announcer Brian Lohnes, will pit bitter rivals and outspoken trash-talkers against each other in a tense battle for $10,000 cash and ultimate bragging rights. From high-octane drag racing to white-knuckle hillclimbs, engines and egos will battle it out to win it all.
"We're thrilled to bring a head-to-head racing series to Motor Trend OnDemand, as there is such a huge interest in this genre," says TEN's Senior Vice President and General Manager of Original Programming Bobby Akin. "We chose Brian Lohnes to host for his very unique style of announcing and deep knowledge of the sport that will add to the drama and excitement of Put Up or Shut Up as he provides in-depth play-by-plays."
In addition to hosting Put Up or Shut Up, Lohnes has previously worked with TEN: The Enthusiast Network as an announcer for HOT ROD Drag Week and a freelance writer for Hot Rod magazine. He is also the editor in chief at BangShift.com and announces for other motorsports events, such as ECTA land speed meets in Wilmington, Ohio; New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire; along with multifaceted events like LS Fest, Goodguys AutoCross, and Diesel Power Challenge. Lohnes is a member of the announcing staff on the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series tour as well.
"I'm excited for the world to see how far great racers will push themselves and their vehicles in head-to-head battles," says Lohnes. "With Put Up or Shut Up, Motor Trend OnDemand is delivering more of the best original automotive content you can find."
The first episode for Put Up or Shut Up will bring together two of the most outspoken characters in the world of professional drag racing, Stevie "Fast" Jackson and "Tricky" Rickie Smith. Jackson, a rising star, has won championships in the PDRA and Arabian Drag Racing League, and moved over to the NHRA to race quarter-mile Pro Mods for the first time ever this year. He wasted no time in making waves, qualifying #1 in his NHRA debut against the quickest field in the 17-year history of the series. Smith is a legendary veteran racer who won his first IHRA Super Modified Championship in 1976. He was inducted into the NHRA Southeastern Division Hall of Fame in 2016 and has since racked up 11 championships in various categories. This is a fight between the baddest nitrous pro mod driver in the land and a rising star who has proven his worth in the blown Camaro in which he'll take on a legend!
Put Up or Shut Up is the second new exclusive show revealed globally in the past week for Motor Trend OnDemand. Forbidden Drives was announced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on June 29, where it also shot the opening for its premiere episode. Forbidden Drives is hosted by Tiff Needell and Jonny Smith, two of the UK's best-known, well-respected automotive journalists and presenters. Available for streaming this fall, Forbidden Drives is for those who want what they can't have— amazing cars that remain tantalizingly out of reach for many buyers and enthusiasts due to their lack of global distribution.
