Public Data Expert Eric Gillespie Appointed to Obama Administration's FOIA Advisory Committee

SAN FRANCISCO, July 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Government transparency expert Eric Gillespie, founder and CEO of Govini, has been appointed to the newly formed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Advisory Committee and will chair the subcommittee on proactive disclosure.

Intended to propose ways to improve and modernize FOIA, the advisory committee is part of the federal government's open government initiative to promote transparency, fight corruption, energize civic engagement and leverage new technologies in order to strengthen the foundations of freedom in the U.S. and abroad.

The committee, which held its inaugural meeting in late June, has 10 members from the public sector and 10 from the private sector.
