PTS Connect™ Universal Solution Makes Connectivity Flexible and Information Management Simple
New product combines the latest technology to digitally collect and securely transfer biometric information
INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- PTS Diagnostics, the U.S.-based manufacturer of both the CardioChek® brand and the A1CNow® family of point-of-care diagnostic products, has introduced a new product that combines the latest connectivity, data management and point-of-care reporting technology to automatically and digitally collect and transfer biometric information. The electronic data is then easily available for point-of-care reporting or importing into other third-party software systems.
The PTS Connect™ universal solution is a portable, lightweight tool that connects up to 15 different biometric devices via USB, Wi-Fi® and any next generation technology even when an Internet connection is not available.
"We have learned from our customers that diagnostics testing is only the beginning for biometric screening and wellness providers," said Robert Huffstodt, President and CEO of PTS Diagnostics. "Information management is a significant need. The ability to automatically and wirelessly collect digital biometric information and then transfer with or without an Internet connection is something many of our customers have been asking for."
The PTS Connect universal solution is completely mobile-friendly and will work seamlessly with most modern laptops, tablets and smartphones.
"Many of our customers are asking for information management solutions that will work equally on iPads®, PCs, or Android® phones," said Huffstodt. "Just as important, many of our customers want their biometric devices to connect wirelessly even when an Internet connection is not available. The PTS Connect universal solution solves both these issues."
In non-connected environments, biometric data is securely transferred to the PTS Connect universal solution. When an Internet connection is available, the data is stored in the cloud for recovery if needed. When the event is closed, the data on the portable device is permanently deleted. All this helps to ensure HIPAA compliance.
The PTS Connect universal solution generates an immediate point-of-care report that offers end-users actionable information. This includes the PTS Connect cardiac age calculation. Based on the Framingham Heart Study, the PTS Connect cardiac age provides a representation of an individual's risk for cardiovascular disease. Health data including gender, age, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, blood pressure, smoking, and diabetes are components of cardiac age. The desired result is for an individual's cardiac age to be the same as or younger than their biological age. These point-of-care reports can be customized and allow biometric information input such as height, weight, blood pressure, and other important data points.
"Earlier this month, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) unveiled a campaign to help individuals understand their heart age," said Huffstodt. "PTS Diagnostics offers a FDA 510(k) cleared cardiac age calculation. This CDC initiative is perfect timing with the launch of our new product."
The PTS Connect universal solution manages multiple screening events and biometric data can easily be downloaded as a CSV file for import into third-party software systems.
"For biometric screeners still using paper and pen to record results, or for any healthcare provider that is hindered with biometric screenings without an Internet connection, the PTS Connect universal solution is a very viable option," said Huffstodt. "This solution combines easy connectivity, data management and point-of-care reporting to provide ultimate flexibility when capturing and securely transferring biometric information."
