Providence, Rhode Island Announced As First City In United States To Become Connected By Loud-Hailer
Providence2GO App Lets Residents and Visitors Seamlessly Experience the City with Just One Tap
KINGSTON, N.Y., Nov. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Loud-Hailer, an innovator in hyperlocal digital communications, is pleased to announce the launch of their first Connected City app, Providence2GO. The app, which uses Loud-Hailer's cutting-edge, non-beacon based proprietary mesh networking technology, allows residents and visitors to experience the city of Providence in a way never seen before.
Powered by proprietary, patent pending, groundbreaking technology, Providence2GO directly connects users with all the people and places that make Providence so uniquely special. They can learn what is available around them with just one tap of the app.
Once the Providence2GO app is downloaded and Bluetooth is enabled through an iOS smart device like an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or an iPod Touch, users are able to experience a Connected City all in one place. When in the "listening range" of a participating organization, users will receive content specific to where they are, including locals-only tips, special deals from nearby restaurants and shops, experiences at WaterFire, events at Roger Williams University, a peek inside the makers studios at AS220, or exhibits at Providence Public Library—just to name a few.
"While the idea of using an app to look something up isn't new, Loud-Hailer's technology revolutionizes the process. Gone are the days of needing to open and close a variety of apps, login multiple times, or wonder about cell service when exploring a city," said Jack Chen, Co-Founder and CEO of Loud-Hailer. "With the Providence2GO app, you can see what is available around you with one tap. Our technology works with Bluetooth Low Energy, so users will always be able to access the app and get valuable information when walking around Providence, starting with the historic downtown area."
Throughout the Providence community, Loud-Hailer has partnered with organizations including Roger Williams University, WaterFire, AS220, the City of Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism, Providence Public Library, Marsella Properties, State of Rhode Island Office of Innovation, Queen of Hearts, VP Fitness, Blake's Tavern and Rhode Tour, among others.
"Loud-Hailer's technology and platform allows us to be creative in the way we reach students past basic e-mails," said Adriana Dawson, Assistant Dean, Center for Workforce & Professional Development at Roger Williams University. "We're excited to partner with Loud-Hailer and Providence2GO and know it will truly complement and enhance campus engagement in a way that will continue to grow."
"WaterFire is looking forward to working with Loud-Hailer on our upcoming art installations, events and exhibitions," said Barnaby Evans, Executive Artistic Director. "We're proud to be part of the acclaimed Providence Creative Capital-- the arts make Providence a nationally known destination city. Our partnership with Loud-Hailer and its unique technology will create new ways we can connect with our million plus audience through interesting and innovative content."
"We're so excited that Providence has become the first city in the United States to use Loud-Hailer's cutting edge technology," said Chen. "Providence2GO users will be able to experience this beautiful city in a new and interactive way never seen before."
