ProLogium Technology and Weltmeister Will Co-produce the First EV in The World Which Adopts Next Generation Lithium Ceramic Battery
ProLogium JV with Weltmeister to set up 5GWh EV solid-state battery plant
HSINCHU, Taiwan, Oct. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- With its' own next generation Lithium Ceramic Battery (LCB) which was invented by itself, ProLogium Technology has just signed MOU with Weltmeister(WM). In Q1, 2018, ProLogium and WM will co-produce the First EV in the world which adopts next generation lithium ceramic battery and announce it at "Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2018". Meanwhile, ProLogium and WM will build up a production line with 5GWh capacity by join venture in 2018. This production line will finish and start to manufacture LCB by end of 2019.
This partnership is showing ProLogium's strong determination to enter EV market.
ProLogium will be responsible for research and development, manufacturing of cell inlay which is the core of the battery cell. Based on the cell inlay, JV will make battery cell and battery module, and WM will integrate battery pack into new-energy vehicles. "The joint venture will take advantages of two companies and aim to achieve a win-win situation," according to the Vincent, president of ProLogium Technology Co. Ltd. What's more, most of EV makers in the world already contact with ProLogium and will announce more cooperate information soon.
LCB solves performances and safety core issues of conventional EV polymer battery perfectly. It has high capacity, high energy density, fast charging ability (5C charge with low temp. raise), and extremely wide operation window (storage at -65°C; discharge at 105°C). And it adopts solid state lithium ceramic electrolyte instead of liquid type in general polymer battery, so there is no leakage, no explosion. Moreover, cooperation method with ProLogium will be more flexible than other cell makers that only provide battery cells. ProLogium provides core contents of cell, "inlays", to other cell makers (NMC, Lead-acid or NiMH battery for instance) to assembly battery cells.
With ProLogium's pioneer leading technology, ProLogium got SBCVC's continuous financial investment from 2012.
"We've been seeing the fast growth of ProLogium's technology these years and we look forward to its leading a new battery technology revolution by its innovation in solid state battery field," said by Chauncey Shey, Managing Partner of SBCVC affiliated with Japan's Softbank Group Corp.
About ProLogium(PLG)
ProLogium is the first and only one company which can mass product next generation Lithium Ceramic Battery (LCB). (also known as: solid-state battery, explosion-poof Lithium battery; flexible battery…,etc.)
LCB is ultra-thin (thickness: 0.38mm/cell), flexible (10,000 times bending@R15mm), high energy density, and ultra-safe. Even after punched, penetrated, burned, gun shotted, there is no leakage, no fire, and no explosion.
With its high technology content and know-how, PLG has been creating this new battery system independently from establishing on Oct 3rd, 2006. Till Oct, 2017, PLG has already obtained 62 patents and 50 filed ones all over the world, including cell materials, cell design and cell manufacturing process, even more, production equipment and unique final applications. Announced our first generation technology and product, FLCB, in Battery Japan 2012 and started manufacturing and selling from 2013.
First commercial final product embedded LCB is a power flip case of hTc One Max, an official accessory made by hTc. Then with solid-state Lithium Ceramic Battery's ultra-thinness and flexibility, PLG entered wearable electronics such as power belt with GPS function, heating insole, and smart helmet…, etc. In 2016, PLG also successfully enter IOT and high-end smart card field and got a big order from a card maker, JINCO, for a Korea bank's fingerprint card.
After continuous improvement, PLG technology comes to 5th generation in 2017. This generation technology not only overwhelmed everyone's impression about solid-state battery, but also break the limitation of liquid type polymer battery and set up 4 unfair advantages of "fast charging"*, "not hot during fast charging"**, "extremely high and low operation window(Temp.)"***, and "outer space operation pressure"****. By these 4 unfair advantages, PLG successfully enter into special application that require severe environment such as industry, semi-conductor, and medical…Furthermore, by JV with Weltmeister, construct a 5GWh LCB plant for EV, PLG officially enter into EV ECO system supplier chain and push the battery industry to another level.
(Note):
* Fast Charging:charge 12mins to get 60% power; and 30mins 82% power. Compare to Tesla's 30 mins fast charging, PLG get more 23% power and more 100km than Tesla.
** Max. Temp. during charging is only 33°C which is less than body temp.
*** Extremely high and low operation window(Temp.): LCB is able to be charged at -20°C to 85°C, discharged at -25°C to 105°C, and storage at -65°C to 105°C(14D).
**** Outer space operation pressure : bare cell of LCB is able to work under the pressure of 10-11atm which is equal to outer space vacuum level.
More Data:
1. Extremely Safe:
There is no fire or explode even after penetrate, fold or over charge. LCB also passes EUCAR Hazard Level 2~3, which is dream to achieve for all first tier cell makers. General speaking, LCB is the safest battery in the world.
2. Higher Energy Density:
The latest energy density of LCB is higher than any other EV battery in the market. Comparison of energy density roadmaps with competitors, BMW i3 target at 660Wh/L (Samsung SDI) in 2020, GM Spark target at 700Wh/L (LG Chemical) in 2020. ProLogium LCB energy density will be 1.4~1.5 times higher, which will reach 1000Wh/L.
3. Ultra-Thin and Great Flexibility.
LCB can be bend 10000 times and still functional.
