Five Ways Entrepreneurs Can Build Successful Businesses
Steven David Elliot
CEO
Rockstar Connect
Elliot is available for interviews to share his five ways entrepreneurs can build successful businesses: "1) Discover and know your purpose: Determine your why. Why are you trying to do what you're doing? Is it because you want your independence and freedom? Is it because of money? Do you want to be rich? Or is it because you want to make the world a better place? Maybe it's a combination of all these things. 2) Be truthful always (especially with yourself): It's important to recognize that you have to have your integrity. Your mouth has to write checks you can cash. Many people have ideas, but they never implement them. They are fooling themselves. 3) Find your own path: If you are an entrepreneur, take action. Even if you haven't figured it all out, at least start. It's only way you're going to learn how achieve what you started out to do. It's OK to reach out to others for help, but you'll gain the most value by figuring it out your own way. I have always been untrainable, uncoachable, and incorrigible. This has forced me to be an autodidact that thinks outside the box. The market rewards people that think like that. 4) Relinquish some control: It is also important to let go of some control. Get good partners they can help you with your vision. Not only will they relieve you of a lot of the pressures and time constraints of the business, they will, in many cases, have the ability to show you the way to accomplish your goals. 5) Help and serve others regardless of what they can do for you: Successful people help other people. Make sure that you reinvest your time to help others move up the ladder. It is a cliché, but true, that all ships rise together. Further, remember you were not what you do. You are not a real estate agent, or a plumber, or a gardener -- you are a member of your community, and you should be a servant to help others."
Elliot created the Rockstar Connect program through years of experimentation and implementation. His networking events are legendary and he is nationally known for his innovation in the field of business networking. His Meetup North Hills Networking has been recognized as one of the "most successful and active in the world," boasting 20,000 members. Rockstar Connect is based on his philosophy of having to "give in order to get." He teaches that, through altruistic acts, you will be rewarded with material and spiritual abundance. As a Realtor, sales person, connector, coach, and marketing guru, he has harnessed his ability to find options and solutions, limit them to the best, and help his clients select the outcomes to achieve their goals.

Business Lessons From 'Game of Thrones'
Dr. John Huber
Clinical Forensic Psychologist
"We can learn how to be an effective boss by observing the actions of the Greyjoys. King Robert shows how you can be in charge but also enjoy other things that life has to offer (in his case, it's excessive drinking, women on the side, and hunting). King Robert's over-indulgences and lack of balance, however, lead to his untimely death -- this is a very powerful lesson. When it comes to determination, we can observe Daenerys, who slept, killed, and burned her clothes off to get to the top. That's not to say that in the modern world a person has to engage in these extreme practices to succeed. The essence of Daenerys is 'take action, do whatever it takes, seize every opportunity' until you attain your goal. Don't like your job or your future prospects? Look no further than Hodor, the underdog and fan favorite. He turned out to be a glorified doorman. After all those years of training, that general studies undergraduate degree isn't so bad after all."
Based in Austin, Dr. Huber is the chairman for Mainstream Mental Health, a nonprofit organization that brings lasting and positive change to the lives of individuals that suffer from mental health issues. A mental health professional for more than 20 years, Dr. Huber is a clinical forensic psychologist and a practitioner with privileges at two long-term acute-care hospitals. In addition, Dr. Huber is a professor and teaches undergraduate and graduate psychology at Texas State University.
