Produced and Distributed by SOMOSTV's Movie Channel, "VeneMovies" is Changing its Name to "ViendoMovies" on July 4th
MIAMI, June 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- "VeneMovies," the commercial-free, 24-hour channel that exclusively shows films originally made in Spanish, produced and distributed by SOMOSTV (a company based in Miami), is changing its name on July 4th to "ViendoMovies," and at the same time will be premiering a new "on air look" to underscore its position in the market as one of the leading theme channels in Latin TV.
This makeover of the channel as part of the celebration of its 5th anniversary on the air is in keeping with a strategy of making the brand connect better to the market reached by its signal (the U.S. and Puerto Rico), and it fits in with the company's strategic growth plans. Luis Villanueva, President and CEO of SOMOSTV, explained that "the change of name is intended to harmonize better with the genre covered by the channel, within a growing bilingual market. This new name also reaffirms the brand's actual personality, as a signal produced and distributed in and from the United States, which is why we have chosen such a key date."
With this new name and makeover, the audience will receive a signal that is much more up-to-date in its graphic presentation, with new spaces serving the movie industry and with the capacity to be appreciated on multiple platforms and social networks (the channel is notable for keeping up to date with new technologies and ways of contacting and keeping its audience united around the theme of movies in Spanish). The name change has been going on for more than a year with the mention of "ViendoMovies" occupying more and more screen and audio space, until it becomes quite familiar to the channel's fans. This strategy, and the fact that the key elements, such as the basic logo and musical themes have been retained, allow for this change to be assimilated and executed in a transparent fashion.
ViendoMovies (formerly VeneMovies), has been recognized for programming the best original films in Spanish, showing big-screen productions featuring Latino talent, made in Latin America (in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela and Puerto Rico, among other countries) as well as Spain. "Our screens show the best in current cinema," notes the media executive, "with new talent and stories that are relevant in today's world." The channel has also distinguished itself by celebrating the holidays of the various nationalities of the Hispanic market and the United States, in both its promotion and programming, as well as with coverage and support of Hispanic film festivals in the Americas and Europe.
Today the channel is distributed by the main U.S. cable companies (Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications, Cablevision, Charter Communications, RCN, and Atlantic Broadband, among others) and by telecommunications companies (Verizon and ATT), as well as by the main cable companies in Puerto Rico (Choice Cable, One Link and Liberty). The channel continues to grow and negotiate affiliations with other cable and satellite companies.
