ATLANTA, Jan. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Primrose Schools will open its second urban preschool next week in Houston, TX, with additional locations under development in Denver, Dallas and Philadelphia. The push for expansion of the child care franchise in major metropolitan settings comes after the successful design, build out, and operation of the first urban model in midtown Atlanta.

The urban prototype, first unveiled in Aug. 2010, was designed to meet the rising demand for high-quality early education among young families choosing to work and live in major U.S. cities. The Atlanta school has since served as a model for franchise expansion in major downtown areas and has experienced consistently strong enrollment, currently at 87 percent capacity.
The new urban school, Primrose School at The Galleria, is owned and operated by Alex and Nebal Nemry; this is their second Primrose Schools franchise and the couple, who recently celebrated their 20th anniversary, also in the future plan to open a third school in Houston area. The architecture and interior design of the new school will maintain the look and feel of a traditional Primrose School, similar to a modern version of a craftsman style home, yet meet the unique demands of families living in the city. Parents working near the school are welcome to visit their children on lunch breaks, and mothers can use the nursing rooms at their convenience. The school will open with more than 55 students pre-enrolled, compared to an average of 40 for a typical school in a suburban market.
"Filling the need for high quality, early childhood education in urban environments is an integral part of our franchise expansion strategy," says Darin Harris, COO of Primrose Schools. "The urban model allows aspiring entrepreneurs, and our existing franchise owners, the opportunity to make a real, positive impact on the lives of families choosing to live and work in metropolitan cities. This model was also developed so Primrose can franchise in urban locations which may include in-line or in existing office spaces. As we continue to grow, fewer families will have to forgo urban living or take on stressful commutes to work due to the lack of convenient, quality child care options available to them."
Unlike a typical daycare franchise, Primrose schools are education-based, offering the exclusive Balanced Learning® system that addresses multiple aspects of growth and learning – social-emotional, cognitive, creative and physical skills – with a special emphasis on character development. The Primrose Schools Education Advisory Board works to continually improve every aspect of the care and education Primrose students receive, and helps Primrose achieve service excellence by meeting the growing demand for quality early education and child care in America. Primrose Schools was also the first child care franchise to achieve Corporation Systems Accreditation under the new Early Learning Standards, a system-wide achievement designated by AdvancED™, the world's largest accrediting and school improvement organization.
Primrose Schools expects to open seven urban schools in the next three years, and is currently looking for franchise prospects to further develop the model in Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Jersey City, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego. In order to be considered as a Primrose franchise owner, prospects are required to have at least $350,000 in liquid assets and a net worth of $500,000.
