As part of this collaboration, Preventice will provide the mobile platform, data monitoring capabilities, and analytics for targeted surgical programs and patient education content developed by VOX Telehealth. Procedure-specific solutions offered by VOX are designed to educate and engage surgical patients before and after procedures as well as provide proactive, clinical monitoring and reporting throughout their recovery. The two companies seek to make a significant impact through improved patient satisfaction and outcomes, reduced readmissions, more efficient care delivery, and reduced costs.
"Narrowing the patient engagement gap provides significant opportunity to help control rising health care costs. When people connect to their doctors and receive education about their care, they are much more likely to follow their care plan," said Jon Otterstatter, co-founder, president and CEO of Preventice. "Mobile technology allows us to create a secure, convenient doctor-patient connection along with data analysis that is crucial to quality improvement efforts for physicians and care systems."
According to the National Patient Safety Foundation, half of the U.S. population (nearly 90 million people) is considered to be in the "low" or "basic" health literacy category. This lack of patient education, or health literacy, contributes nearly $58 billion annually to our country's health care spend.
"We aim to significantly impact the current inefficiencies and cost structure by creating a greater partnership between the patient and the care provider. Robust and engaging educational content will enable the patient to be a true partner in their recovery. But we do not simply place a tool in the patient's hands and call it connected, our 24/7 clinical care model drives the compliance and outcomes through needed monitoring and access to our clinical care team," said David Brown, CEO of VOX Telehealth.
