ROCKVILLE, Md., Sept. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Goodwill Industries International board of directors has named Steve Lufburrow, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Houston, to serve a three-year term on the Goodwill Industries International board. The appointment was announced at Goodwill's recent Delegate Assembly held in San Diego, CA.
In addition to serving as president and CEO of Goodwill Houston, Lufburrow also serves as executive director of the Goodwill Industries of Houston Foundation. He has been with Goodwill since 1981.
Lufburrow has also served as a board member of the Galleria Chamber of Commerce, a vice president of the Houston Club board of directors, president of the Rotary Club of Houston, president of the Texas Association of Goodwills, and president of the Rotary Club of Houston Foundation. He is a current member of the executive committee of the board of directors for the Better Business Bureau and is a member of the Houston Club board of governors.

Among the many awards and recognitions he has received for his work are the Paul Harris Fellow award from the Rotary Club and the Citation of Merit award from his alma mater, Southwestern University. In 2014, he received the highest honor given to a Goodwill CEO, the Kenneth K. King Management Award for Executive Excellence.
Lufburrow and his wife, Joan, have been married for 34 years and have two sons and two granddaughters. He is also a singer and drummer in a classic rock and Motown band, Twist & Shout, as well as a performer in the Christian Praise Band, Encounter. His hobbies include motorcycle cross-country touring.
