BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Oct. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Premise Health, a leading employer-sponsored health center and wellness provider, is proud to announce its participation in two Department of Defense programs aimed at supporting the employment and wellbeing of American military members and their families.
At an induction ceremony held October 2 at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Building in Washington, D.C., Premise Health CEO Stu Clark represented the organization in signing an official statement of support for the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP). A statement of support for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) program was signed in December of last year.
"We are honored to partner with the DOD on these important programs," said Clark. "Membership in these programs is right for our company, our country, and for those who have served. At Premise Health, we honor veterans' service, but we also recognize that this is a well-trained, team-oriented, committed group of professionals. Our company and our clients are better off with them on our team."
By becoming partners of the MSEP, Premise Health joins a collective effort to support military spouse employment. The program connects military spouses with hundreds of partner employers who are committed to recruiting, promoting and retaining the spouses of military members.
Dr. Jill Biden helped launch the program in 2012 as part of the Department of Defense's broader Spouse Education and Career Opportunities initiative, which seeks to reduce the significant unemployment rate and wage gap currently experienced by military spouses. To date, MSEP has contributed to the hiring of over 108,000 spouses, helping to lower the 23 percent unemployment rate of military spouses.
The ESGR program serves to promote cooperation and understanding between members of the reserve components and their civilian employers. Founded in 1972, ESGR helps ensure that employers understand the role of their citizen-soldier employees in national defense and educate both employers and employees about their rights and responsibilities. By joining the ESGR program, Premise Health pledges to recognize and support our country's service members and their families in all situations.
"Participating in these programs is consistent with our belief that servicemen, servicewomen and their families have skills that are valuable to and needed by Premise Health," said Clark.
Premise Health offers a dedicated Military Veteran Team Member Resource Group designed to supply military veterans with a group of like-minded individuals ready to assist new team members with mentoring, leadership development, new member recruitment, and onboarding.
