Premera Blue Cross Teams Up With The Seahawks To Kick Off Healthy Living Program For Washington Residents
Healthy tailgate recipes equal free tickets to an upcoming Seahawks game
MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash., Sept. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In an ongoing effort to promote healthy lifestyles, Premera Blue Cross has teamed up with the Seattle Seahawks to present Washingtonians with the healthy living destination, www.serveitup.com. Seahawks team chef Mac McNabb has created a menu of healthy tailgate recipes that will contribute the recipe library on Serve it Up!
"I'm used to preparing meals for 300 lb. linemen and players who are on the practice field for hours a day," said Seahawks Executive Chef Mac McNabb. "The reality is, the average person can't eat this way. I know how important it is to combine good taste with good nutrition, so I've taken some classic tailgate favorites, slimmed them down, and show that you can have both."
The recipes will also help to kick off the "Premera Pin to Win: A Serve it Up! Healthy Tailgate" Pinterest contest that offers a chance to win free Seahawks tickets through the eight-week regular season. The Seahawks currently have the highest Pinterest following of any NFL team and are expected to play to a sell-out home crowd every week, making tickets difficult to come by for fans.
Starting today, football fans 18 years of age and older are invited to enter the contest on Pinterest pinterest.com/seattleseahawks/ and select a minimum of three (3) "Pins": one (1) "Prize" pin, one (1) healthy recipe pin and one (1) Seattle Seahawks pin during the promotional period. Two sets of prizes will be awarded each week for each home game September 15 through December 29. Weekly prizes include one each of four game tickets; and a Tee Hawks prize pack that includes two game tickets (for a parent and a child 6-12 years old) as well as game day recognition, including an on-field activity and a video board call out. All entries must be received by December 10, 2013.
"Football and tailgating are traditionally associated with less-than-healthy food choices," said Dave Young, vice president of wellness and consumerism, Premera Blue Cross. "Working with Chef McNabb, we see it is possible to indulge in tasty foods while maintaining your commitment to a healthy lifestyle. As we kick off Serve it Up! and our Pinterest contest, we're thrilled to have the Seahawks' support."
