NEW YORK, July 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Pond5, the world's largest marketplace for royalty-free video footage, announced today that its network of over 40,000 artists has contributed more than four million high-quality video clips to the company's library—a first for the industry. Artists uploaded over one million clips in the past eight months, creating the largest, fastest growing collection of royalty-free video content on the web.
Pond5's library now includes more than 336,000 4K video clips, composing the web's largest collection of royalty-free 4K footage. The company's pool of 4K video clips tripled over the last eight months.
"Since day one, we've made it our mission to create the world's most artist-friendly hub for royalty-free media," says Pond5 cofounder and CEO Tom Bennett. "Since then, tens of thousands of amazing artists from around the world have trusted us with their content and livelihoods."
In addition to its unrivaled collection of royalty-free 4K footage, Pond5 has pioneered cutting-edge video formats. The company recently introduced Backlots and Backlots+ video formats—160-degree green screen backlots with an effective resolution of 8K. Pond5 was the also first marketplace of its kind to support Redcode RAW (R3D).
In January, the company released 80,000 free public domain video clips, photos, 3D models, and audio clips on its website.
Pond5 footage has found its way into blockbuster films including Iron Man, Thor, and Dallas Buyers Club, along with hit television series such as AMC's The Walking Dead and NBC's Saturday Night Live.
