NEW YORK, April 6, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Practising Law Institute is pleased to report that its "Trial Advocacy Training Program" is successfully providing litigators with the training and skills they need to be effective advocates in the courtroom. This expertly designed program offers litigators a novel way to gain expertise in litigating matters through the delivery of mock courtroom scenarios and analysis. To meet the needs of customers, the program is available online 24/7, and can be used for individual study or as part of an in-house training program tailored to suit a firm's requirements.
Based on a fictional patent infringement case, the program features a complete case file that includes a case summary, pleadings, patent applications, witness biographies, depositions, claim constructions order, exhibits and visual aids, jury instructions, the applicable law and a special verdict form.
The course offers mini-lectures on the various components of the trial, including opening statements; direct, cross, adverse and expert witness examinations; and closing statements. The program also features insights into the strategies of opposing counsel, a mock trial and expert commentary on the proceedings.
Developed in conjunction with Professor John O. Sonsteng of Mitchell Hamline School of Law, the program is nine hours in length and is divided into eight segments to fit into a lawyer's busy schedule. The program is accompanied by a Discussion Guide that contains questions focused on each segment. Continuing Legal Education credit is available for this On-Demand program.
"We are pleased to offer this program to our customers as it fills a void in a much-needed area of advocacy training," said PLI President Anita Shapiro. "Firms may use the case file in conjunction with the program or are free to use it to develop customized sessions to meet their needs."
