Planning Your Holiday Shopping? Anker Survey Reveals Useful Gifts Spark Fond Memories
External batteries are among the useful gifts recipients really want
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Expensive, unique and sentimental holiday gifts are not what people actually want, according to a new survey from Anker, the leader in mobile power. The survey, conducted by Foxtrot Research, reveals that people really want gifts they can use. Please click here to view the full survey results.
Fifty-four percent of respondents say that usefulness is the most important characteristic of a good holiday gift, and more than two-thirds (68 percent) say a bad gift is one that isn't useful at all.
Useful gifts also trigger fond associations. Sixty-six percent of respondents said they think about the person who gave them a useful gift almost every time they use it.
When determining what types of gifts are useful, holiday shoppers should look for items that simplify the recipient's life: More than three-quarters (79 percent) of respondents note they would use a gift of this nature.
External batteries for mobile devices are useful and wanted
Sixty-seven percent of respondents predict that their smartphone battery will die at least once this holiday season. It's therefore no surprise that 84 percent agree they would use an external battery — a portable power pack for mobile devices — if given to them as a gift, with 50 percent noting they would use it a few times a week or more.
Forty-five percent of respondents would like an external battery as a gift, and an additional one-third (37 percent) already have one on their holiday wish list. More than 50 percent of respondents indicate external batteries would be a good gift for their significant other or spouse, friend or sibling.
When selecting an external battery, consumers can count on products made by Anker, the No. 1 charging brand on Amazon. All Anker external batteries come equipped with the company's PowerIQ technology, which dynamically adapts to a device's unique charging protocol, enabling it to charge at full speed.
"Anker's wide range of industry-leading power products helps ensure that battery life never slows down real life," said Jason Lin, senior director of marketing for Anker. "Our external batteries are a useful gift that simplify life and holiday shopping."
Anker's Astro Series has an external battery that suits everyone's power needs, from gamers to social butterflies, traveling spouses to busy parents. Anker's Astro Mini is colorful and compact, but also holds enough juice to charge a smartphone 1.5 times for any on-the-go situation. Looking for more power? Anker's 2nd Gen Astro E4 has enough of it to charge a smartphone battery three to six times, making it a worthy option for mobile data-hogs.
