Construction projects are often huge and complex undertakings. Jobs frequently have as many as 40 different subcontracting teams onsite, and delays can have a reverberating impact on other teams. Previously, tracking and planning activities was done through spreadsheets, paper and email. Updating the current status of work was a tedious line-by-line process undertaken by project managers who typically had little visibility into how activities in the field were progressing and didn't provide superintendents the power to track assigned work on the fly.

For powerful day-to-day management of activities, field teams can view their list of tasks directly from their tablet or smartphone and know exactly what work needs to get done by when. Project leaders can also assign tasks to multiple individuals or groups, and are empowered with real-time feedback on what has been completed and what is at risk.
Created directly from a sheet or the Task Log, a Task can contain a wealth of information, such as a description of work to be completed, location, type of work such as QA/QC, scheduled activities or inspection items, due date, and any potential schedule or cost impact. Photos can also be attached directly to a Task and annotated to provide additional context. Tasks can be viewed on sheets to identify specific locations where work exists, and all Tasks, whether unscheduled or planned in advance, can be seen in the central Tasks Log.
Tasks are particularly powerful for tracking schedule milestones leading up to a final inspection. For example, a superintendent in the field can create a Task list of open action items that need to be completed prior to the final walk-through, assigning individual tasks to specific specialty contractors. Similarly in the office, project engineers can create a Task list assigning all remaining documents required to complete close-out to different specialty contractors, streamlining the overall process and keeping track of all required documentation.
