The New Reign of Glamour
The inspiration for the Fall/Winter 2015 b michael AMERICA collection is the empowerment of glamour in our modern world. In a time when technology has become a way of life, we crave a return to artistry and romanticism in our lives… in the way we travel, the way we dine and the way we present ourselves to the world.
With this collection, the use of rich fabrics and sensuous silhouettes evoke the power of glamour for an advanced lifestyle. The women's clothing is decidedly feminine. The form fitting sheaths and the full sweep movement of the dresses are provocative, yet structured. The men's looks are expressive and seductive. The jackets offer B Michael's signature shawl collar and tailored silhouette.
The palette of the collection creates vignettes in precious gem tones ranging from day clothes to evening, as well as the showcased accessories of signature gloves and fine jewelry provided by Campbellian Collection. Beauty notes: the hair lends glamour to the look with an upswept, curved roll styled by Aveda. The face features a custom lip color in mixed ruby tones and eyelids in subtle hues of precious metals enhanced with lashes, created by makeup artist Theodore Turner.
The show opens with a Scarf-Tie Coat of wool/metallic boucle in sapphire splashed with crystal & garnet, which set the tone for what would follow. Other well-received looks include a Sash Seam Open Back Gown of silk/metallic brocade in antique gold multi, a Tetra Collar Jacket & Diamond Point Demi Train Skirt of wool yarn brocade in pearl/jet/metallic, an Open Neck Capelet Sleeve Sheath of tulle embroidery in crystal/onyx, a Fluted Cuff Topper of chenille boucle in black diamond/crystal, a Curve Seam Torso Carousel Sweep Dress of silk mikado with dotted tulle overlay in ruby/jet, a Strapless 24 Gore Ball Gown of silk cloque in onyx with ruby/onyx jeweled lace overlay back, a Paneled Torso Cocktail Sheath with Pyramid Sleeve Leather Bolero of metallic brocade in deep amethyst, a Strapless Kaleidoscope Ball Gown of silk brocade in blue shale/lepidolite, and the finale, a Strapless Waterfall Gown of cotton/wool brocade with dotted tulle overlay in turquoise/jade/onyx. ~ B Michael
