Philly FED Day Showcases Local Federal Agencies
National Public Service Recognition Week is also Philadelphia FEB's 50th Anniversary
PHILADELPHIA, April 29, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In honor of National Public Service Recognition Week and the 50th anniversary of the Philadelphia Federal Executive Board, the FEB will host Philly FED Day, Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the National Constitution Center. The event is free and open to the public.
"Philly FED Day is an effort to educate the public about the valuable contribution federal workers make to the Philadelphia area, and to showcase the services available to members of the community," said Leni Uddyback-Fortson, regional director, U.S. Department of Labor Office of Public Affairs and 2011 FEB chair.

Attendees will gain valuable information from employees of more than 30 federal agencies at the showcase, and will have the opportunity to participate in a lively, open discussion about government, led by Thomas E. Mills, Acting Deputy Archivist of the United States and Pamela Wright, chief, National Archives Digital Access Strategist. (There may be limited seating). As a Philly FED Day partner, Constitution High School, the National Constitution Center's magnet school, is scheduled to sponsor a food drive to benefit Philabundance. Attendees can support this worthy cause by donating a non-perishable food item.
Approximately 100 students from Constitution High School and Motivation High School are registered to participate in the day's events.
The Philadelphia FEB, celebrating 50 years of dedicated service to the tri-state area, is a federation of 170 federal agencies in Philadelphia and surrounding counties. It is one of the original 10 boards created by President John F. Kennedy in 1961.
The National Constitution Center, located at 525 Arch St. on Philadelphia's Independence Mall, is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing public understanding of the U.S. Constitution and the ideas and values it represents.
