Philadelphia University launches PhilaU Online to provide innovative educational programs to students worldwide
PhilaU Online includes a new web-based Master's of Sustainable Design program, offering the same curriculum as the award-winning on-campus program, and four undergraduate management and leadership programs.
PHILADELPHIA, July 17, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Philadelphia University has launched PhilaU Online to enable students across the nation—and around the world—to pursue the same quality undergraduate and graduate degrees that are available to the University's on-campus students.
PhilaU Online employs the latest online delivery models to expand the reach of Philadelphia University's degree programs to students without geographic constraints and with maximum flexibility for scheduling.
"As the model for professional education in the 21st century, Philadelphia University is at the forefront using state-of-the-art technology to expand the breadth and reach of our exceptional educational programs that benefit our students both in the classroom and beyond in the workplace," said Philadelphia University President Stephen Spinelli Jr.
To better meet the needs of today's students, Philadelphia University plans to develop additional online programs that will give graduates the education and skills they need to succeed and lead in their chosen fields.
PhilaU Online undergraduate programs will be offered in six eight-week terms annually, enabling students to take classes and proceed at a pace that their schedules allow. Courses include discussions and project-based collaborative learning opportunities, similar to on-campus courses. PhilaU faculty will teach PhilaU Online classes.
"PhilaU Online is a superb addition to Philadelphia University's educational offerings," said Provost Randy Swearer. "In fact, as part of our portfolio of online programs, Philadelphia University is one of just a few institutions worldwide that provide students with a studio-based online experience through our Master's in Sustainable Design program. It is quite innovative and will give our graduates a competitive advantage in the marketplace."
The latest additions to Philadelphia University's online courses include the M.S. in Sustainable Design, offering the same curriculum as the award-winning on-campus program, and B.S. programs in Law Enforcement Leadership, Health Services Management, Human Resource Management and Organizational Leadership. These programs are launching for the fall 2012 semester.
PhilaU Online also includes a number of existing programs, including graduate programs in Disaster Medicine and Management, Occupational Therapy and Midwifery, which are primarily web-based, but also have a required on-campus component.
Philadelphia University, founded in 1884, is a private university with 3,600 students enrolled in more than 60 undergraduate and graduate programs.
