SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, P&G Ventures the startup studio of Procter & Gamble, joins the first ever "Redefining Aging at Home" event. Redefining Aging at Home brings together industry experts, startups, and supporting partners such as P&G Ventures, Plug & Play, Aging 2.0, AARP Innovation Labs, Stanford Center for Longevity, and the University of California to discuss how disruptive technologies can help adults redefine what it means to "age at home." P&G Ventures is participating on the executive organizing committee that will highlight 10 new technologies and solutions that enable aging adults to better manage the activities of daily living.
P&G Ventures fuels its parent company's growth by creating new brands that solve everyday problems in product categories new to P&G, such as elderly care and comprehensive at-home aging solutions. According to the Population Reference Bureau the number of Americans ages 65 and older is projected to more than double from 46 million today to 98 million by 2060. Aging baby boomers are expected to fuel a 75 percent increase in the number of Americans ages 65 and older requiring nursing home care. P&G Ventures is on a mission to help aging adults successfully manage these challenges by finding solutions in areas including bathing, continence care, fall prevention (such as balance, stability, and strength), and skin health management, enabling them to stay at home longer.
Chetan Parekh, Associate Brand Director and Innovation Portfolio Leader at P&G Ventures, is representing P&G Ventures in the corporate reverse pitch. Having led P&G's $1.5 billion Health and Wellness portfolio for Walmart, Parekh has deep expertise in the types of products and technologies that will enable aging adults to perform daily self-care activities with personal dignity to help preserve independence and precious relationships. P&G Ventures is actively looking for both internal and external ideas, as well as unique partnerships with early-stage startups to help provide comprehensive elderly care and at-home aging solutions.
In addition to Caregiving for the Aging, P&G Ventures is focused on the following categories where P&G does not currently provide solutions: Alleviating Symptoms of Menopause, Treating Chronic Skin Conditions & Symptoms, Improving Sleep Through Environment, Maintaining a Non-Toxic Home, Maximizing Mental and Physical Performance, Managing Pain Without Side Effects, and Enhancing Male Wellness.
