P&G Says 'Thank You Mom' and Reunites Children with Their Moms in Honor of Mother's Day
Nationwide Contest Allows 100 Moms to Share Family Moments with Their Children
CINCINNATI, May 6, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG), announced today it will thank moms for Mother's Day by launching a nationwide program, "Thank You Mom Reunions," to bring together 100 moms and their children for milestone family moments they might otherwise miss. The program is part of P&G's "Proud Sponsor of Moms" campaign launched during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games where P&G gave over 250 Team USA moms a gift to help defray the cost of getting to Vancouver to see their children compete.
"P&G is committed to touching and improving lives by thanking moms everywhere for everything they do," said Marc Pritchard, P&G's Global Marketing & Brand Building Officer. "We understand moms do every day selfless acts and ask for nothing in return, and sometimes they aren't able to be with their families at special milestone moments, such as graduations, weddings and the birth of grandchildren. On Mother's Day we want to say 'thank you mom' and give more moms the opportunity to be with their families on special occasions with our 'Thank You Mom Reunion' program."
Beginning on Thursday, May 6, in celebration of Mother's Day, consumers are invited to log onto www.thankyoumom.com and enter to win a gift card to help cover the cost of a special reunion with their mom or mom figure in their life. Entrants must submit a 100-word essay describing why they would like to be reunited with their mom. Consumers are also invited to vote for their favorite entries. Each month, 15 winners will be chosen through November 30th. Winners will also receive a portable digital video camera to capture their reunion and are encouraged to share the video. Specific contest rules and regulations can be found online at www.thankyoumom.com.
The "Thank You Mom Reunion" program was announced at an employee and community event at P&G's Cincinnati headquarters that featured Team USA Olympic medalists Julie Chu, Seth Wescott, J.R. Celski and Paralympian Caitie Sarubbi, along with their moms. Employees and their moms signed a giant Mother's Day card and viewed new advertising thanking moms for Mother's Day that will run during Mother's Day weekend to support the program.
