P&G and LULAC Renew Partnership to Help Hispanic Women at P&G-LULAC Technology Center in Houston
Training Center Advances Educational Attainment with Seminar Hosted by Maria Antonieta Collins
HOUSTON, May 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- P&G (NYSE: P&G) and its Tide, Downy, Gain, Bounty and Pampers brands are announcing a $250,000 donation to LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) to continue supporting free resources, like English and computer classes, for Hispanic women at the P&G-LULAC technology center located at the local LULAC.
As part of the activities funded by the donation, P&G and LULAC are teaming up with well-known Mexican journalist, TV host and best-seller author Maria Antonieta Collins to bring the free P&G-LULAC life improvement seminar to the LULAC center on Friday, June 10 at 5:30 pm. The center is located on 3522 Polk Street.
Open to the public, the seminar will give attendees information and resources to help them simplify their everyday household routine, as well as tips on how to get the best value for their money without sacrificing quality.
"I know by personal experience how hard it can be to be a mother, the executive of my home, go to work not only outside of my home but in a different city and, at the same time, keep my home. It is a complicated endeavor that gets easy when we can count on resources that help us simplify our lives," said Collins. "That is why I am excited to work with LULAC and P&G to bring these seminars to the heart of our community and share with our people advice to help them make their daily lives more efficient."
In addition to the P&G-LULAC center at LULAC in Houston, P&G also supports another center in Los Angeles at the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN), located on 2845 West Seventh Street, as well as one in Dallas at LULAC, located at 345 S. Edgefield Ave.
"We are thankful to P&G for its support so we can continue to provide these free services to the growing community and support their educational advancement," said LULAC National President, Margaret Moran.
"P&G grows by touching and improving more consumers' lives in more parts of the country," said Alexandra Vegas, Director Multicultural Business Development North America at Procter & Gamble. "The partnership with LULAC accelerates educational attainment within the Hispanic American community, and provides branded products and services of superior quality to improve lives. We are proud to continue this partnership and excited to team up with Maria Antonieta Collins to further the cause."
