PepsiCo and Feed the Children Partner to Defeat Hunger in Los Angeles
Event provides food to supplement meals for a week for 800 Los Angeles families
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Eight hundred Los Angeles families in need will receive enough food to supplement meals for a week plus daily essentials, thanks to a partnership between PepsiCo and Feed the Children. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. PT at Coliseum Exposition Park, 700 Exposition Park Dr., Lot 2, Los Angeles, Calif. 90037.
This distribution event is part of a larger initiative between PepsiCo and Feed the Children to help feed communities in cities throughout the United States. In Los Angeles alone, more than 20 percent of the population lives below the poverty line.
The receiving families have been identified and preselected by Challengers Boys and Girls Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the children of the community of South Los Angeles a wide variety of innovative programs designed to inspire and motivate them to reach their full potential – physically, socially and academically – and make positive life choices.
"We are excited to serve and partner with Feed the Children, Challengers Boys and Girls Club, Ralph's and Food 4 Less, supporting our friends and neighbors in the Los Angeles community," said Carlo Ohanian, senior zone sales leader, LA Metro, PepsiCo's Frito Lay division. "Frito-Lay and PepsiCo are committed to giving back to our communities where we live and work, and providing enough food to supplement meals for a week is a small way we can make a difference."
Each qualifying recipient at today's event will be given:
- One 25-pound box of nonperishable food items
- One 15-pound box of personal-care items
- One box of assorted AVON products
