Penton's WasteExpo Proves New Initiatives and Fresh Content are a Recipe for Success
NEW YORK, July 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Penton's WasteExpo 2013, the largest event for the solid waste, recycling, organics and sustainability industry in North America, took place May 20-23, 2013 in New Orleans with an arsenal of new initiatives aimed squarely at ROI for exhibitors and attendees.
WasteExpo has been the leading solid waste and recycling tradeshow for 45 years serving both the private and public sectors. With its triumphant return to New Orleans, it has now become home for composting and organics recycling professionals as well.
This year's conference program, organized by the Environmental Industry Associations (NSWMA/WASTEC), was expanded to include an entire track on Composting and Organics Recycling, organized by Dr. Stu Buckner. It hit the mark for attendees as it opened to a standing room only audience. The all-new presentation theater and the organics exhibitors on the show floor also showcased a myriad of composting and organics solutions and education. The all-new C&D Workshop, sponsored by WasteCap, was nearly sold out and rounded out the workshop offerings.
WasteExpo also launched a virtual learning environment on the show floor that was powered by EREF's online continuing education. The new initiatives continued in the WasteExpo Needs and Leads event, which was also a huge success this year. It will roll out again in 2014 with new technology and tools to help connect buyers and sellers together.
WasteExpo's Inaugural Investor Summit sponsored by Wunderlich Securities, Inc. also drew large crowds and positive feedback from delegates and industry luminaries alike. Key executives from Waste Management, Waste Connections, Republic Services, Inc., Casella Waste Systems and many more gave delegates a look into their companies, trends and insights about where the industry is headed, and the impact on capital spending and strategic moves in the marketplace.
The WasteExpo exhibit hall was filled with more than 560 exhibiting companies, which included over 120 new companies this year and added to the excitement of a 45 year old event that knows how to stay fresh and relevant.
Global participation makes WasteExpo and US expertise and technologies relevant throughout the world
WasteExpo attracted more than 1,500 attendees from 125 countries outside of the United States, including: Canada, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, Cameroon, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Israel, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, China, Romania, Singapore, Croatia, France, Ghana, Australia, Greece, Italy, Mexico, India, the United Kingdom and more (including 14 official US Department of Commerce led delegations). The international participation highlights WasteExpo as a global marketplace and demonstrates the value in U.S. expertise, technologies and products.
Partner and Industry Support Help WasteExpo Shine and Serve Customers
WasteExpo relies on support from our own leading publication Waste360, formerly Waste Age, but expands its reach to remain as the waste, recycling, organics and sustainability industry's objective and comprehensive annual event. WasteExpo's partnership with the Environmental Industry Associations (NSWMA/WASTEC) allows WasteExpo to bring world-class programming to the industry. In addition, relationships with more than 40+ allied publications and industry entities also helped WasteExpo take a deeper dive into different parts of the industry.
"WasteExpo was billed as new, fresh and focused on giving participants the education, tools and solutions they need to make money and save money while staying safe and compliant," said Rita Ugianskis, Managing Director, Penton's Waste Industry Group. "We are delighted to hear that it did this and more. As our industry evolves and grows, we are here every step of the way and our in-person ways of sharing, networking and doing business at WasteExpo are a critical part of this mission -- to help chart the course to sustainable materials management."
