NEW YORK, April 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Penton, a professional information services company, today announced Natural Products Expo and WasteExpo have been recognized by TSNN as top events for 2013 and by Expo for outstanding digital initiatives.
"We are honored to be recognized by both TSNN and Expo," said Sandy Voss, President of Penton Exhibitions. "Our event teams company-wide continue to develop new innovative ideas to grow our events and combine technology to enhance the event experience for our attendees. We congratulate the Natural Products Expo and WasteExpo teams on their award wins."
2013 TSNN Top 250 Trade Shows
The 2013 TSNN Top 250 Trade Shows in the United States honor the top 250 tradeshows held last year in the United States ranked by net square footage.
Natural Products Expo co-located with Engredea is the world's largest and premier tradeshow for the natural, organic and healthy products industry. With 391,132 net square feet, the event was listed 44 on the list.
WasteExpo is North America's largest solid waste and recycling tradeshow serving both the private and public sectors. With 236,750 net square feet, the event was listed 90 on the list.
Expo Digital Excellence Awards
The Expo Digital Excellence Awards honor outstanding digital initiatives in the event industry.
Natural Products Expo East/West won in the "Best Facebook attendee-engagement effort" category for their efforts in transitioning their Natural Products Expo Facebook page from a vehicle in their marketing mix into a platform to provide industry related content and timely answers to event related questions. Constant and consistent Facebook engagement allowed Natural Products Expo to continue to move towards 365 engagement with their community.
According to the Expo Digital Excellence Award judges, "The 22,000 Facebook 'likes' for Natural Products Expo East represents a 70-percent increase over last year and Natural Products Expo West is on track to get 25,000 'likes' by its March opening."
WasteExpo's Organics Content Initiative won in the "Best use of content marketing" category. WasteExpo's Content Marketing initiative centered around developing an identity for Waste360 and WasteExpo within the growing yet underserved Composting & Organics Recycling niche. It helped to establish WasteExpo's brands as a thought leader in a market that is tight-knit and often skeptical about larger, horizontal players entering their space.
According to the Expo Digital Excellence Award judges, "WasteExpo's content marketing initiative to draw a new audience to the event, its magazine and website led to more than 300 attendees in a new conference track, 86 percent of whom were first-time attendees."
