NEW YORK, Feb. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Penthouse Magazine has named its 8th Annual 'Dirty Dozen' a/k/a Double D – Awards this year, giving "props" to the mainstream films in 2013 that put the heat in our pants... and a blast to those that left us cold.
The venerable and iconic magazine has always championed cinematic carnal efforts, but with so many movies – from small independents to blockbusters – pushing the sexual envelope, Penthouse created the Double D Awards to celebrate the best – and worst – in film.
"Penthouse and Bob Guccione were portraying real truth on the screen in 1981 with the groundbreaking movie Caligula," said Penthouse Managing Director, Kelly Holland. "Bob didn't believe that the most fundamental human interaction, sex, needed to be politely or discreetly edited for screen and that's why we say, "Keep it Up!"
From Shia LaBeouf's Oral Achievement Award for his lingual work in Nymphomaniac and Charlie Countryman to Lindsay Lohan's Best Porn/Mainstream Crossover win for her four-way sex scene in The Canyons, the lines between adult and mainstream films are starting to blur.
"Great filmmaking has always been about truth telling as entertainment," said Holland. "Malcolm McDowell, Sir John Gielguld, Dame Helen Mirren, and the late, great Peter O'Toole didn't back away from frank sexual imagery in Guccione's Caligula and we celebrate the actors and directors who are following in their footsteps."
Other cinematic winners included Sharknado, Best Porn-Within-a-Movie Don Jon and Best Sequel Fast & Furious 6, while The Rock's Pain & Gain, Movie 43 and A Good Day to Die Hard crashed and burned.
The March issue of Penthouse is available on newsstands now.
