Pennsylvania Revenue Department Releases August 2013 Collections
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania collected $1.8 billion in General Fund revenue in August, which was $2 million, or 0.1 percent, less than anticipated, Secretary of Revenue Daniel Meuser reported today. Fiscal year-to-date General Fund collections total $3.7 billion, which is $2.3 million, or 0.1 percent, below estimate.
Sales tax receipts totaled $761.4 million for August, $21.5 million above estimate. Year-to-date sales tax collections total $1.6 billion, which is $21.5 million, or 1.4 percent, more than anticipated.
Personal income tax (PIT) revenue in August was $688.8 million, $5.5 million below estimate. This brings year-to-date PIT collections to $1.5 billion, which is $5.4 million, or 0.4 percent, below estimate.
August corporation tax revenue of $55.5 million was $1.4 million below estimate. Year-to-date corporation tax collections total $131.5 million, which is $1.8 million, or 1.4 percent, below estimate.
Inheritance tax revenue for the month was $69.6 million, $3.1 million below estimate, bringing the year-to-date total to $142.9 million, which is $3.1 million, or 2.1 percent, below estimate.
Realty transfer tax revenue was $36.4 million for August, $100,000 below estimate, bringing the fiscal-year total to $76.8 million, which is $100,000, or 0.1 percent, less than anticipated.
Other General Fund tax revenue, including cigarette, malt beverage, liquor and table games taxes, totaled $130.7 million for the month, $300,000 above estimate and bringing the year-to-date total to $232.8 million, which is $200,000, or 0.1 percent, above estimate.
Non-tax revenue totaled $16.6 million for the month, $13.6 million below estimate, bringing the year-to-date total to $28.2 million, which is $13.6 million, or 32.5 percent, below estimate.
In addition to the General Fund collections, the Motor License Fund received $178.6 million for the month, $11.7 million below estimate. Fiscal year-to-date collections for the fund – which include the commonly known gas and diesel taxes, as well as other license, fine and fee revenues – total $420.7 million, which is $11.6 million, or 2.7 percent, below estimate.
