Pennsylvania Humanities Council Seeks Candidates to Fill Open Seats on its Board of Directors
PHILADELPHIA, April 10, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Humanities Council is seeking individuals to fill open seats on its board of directors in 2014. Candidates should reside in Pennsylvania or be employed full-time in Pennsylvania.
Board nominees and applicants are chosen on the basis of their experience, diversity, and commitment to the public humanities, including history, art, literature, and culture. Board members must be committed to advancing PHC's mission to champion the humanities and empower Pennsylvanians to think critically, grow and engage with their communities.
Current board members have backgrounds in diverse areas, such as business, law, education and the arts. Service on the board requires a considerable commitment of time and energy, but it offers a wide variety of rewarding opportunities.
It is an invaluable way to meet and connect with non-profit leaders, build leadership skills, gain experience in strategic planning, funds development, and communications, and play a direct role in PHC's overall direction and the impact of the humanities state-wide.
Elected nominees and applicants must be able to travel to board meetings and serve on committees. Members are eligible to serve up to two successive three-year terms. Nominations and applications must be received by April 25. To apply or nominate a candidate, visit www.pahumanities.org.
