Paula's Choice Skincare Wins Shorty Social Good Awards
NEW YORK, Nov. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Shorty Awards recognize individuals and organizations producing the best social content. They have awarded their Social Good Award in the Fashion, Beauty & Luxury category to Paula's Choice Skincare for best digital episodic video series, 'The Good Fight'. Designed to pay tribute to inspiring women who turn their struggles into triumph and fight for their own truth, the campaign shared the story of best-selling author, consumer advocate and brand founder, Paula Begoun.
Paula began her lifelong crusade to help women when she put her career on the line and pulled back the curtain on the beauty industry with radical honesty and a string of best-selling books, empowering women globally to make the best choices for their skin.
To honor Paula's story, the campaign leaned into the brand's advocacy and empowerment values to inspire others to celebrate their truths and find courage to speak out and stand up for their beliefs. Paula's message of truth resonated with celebrities and activists Jackie Cruz (best known for her role on Orange is The New Black) and Jaime King (former model and actress). Both women eagerly joined the campaign to share their stories of adversity, truth and triumph to inspire others to speak up for their truth.
"We are proud to have such influential women join our campaign. Jackie and Jamie are known as well for their activism as for their craft. They embody the Paula's Choice ethos of embracing your truth, building on your own struggles to find strength and empower other women," says Tara Poseley, CEO at Paula's Choice.
Since the campaign's launch in July, it has already surpassed most expectations; paid media on Instagram and Facebook activations saw 25M impressions and 'The Good Fight' videos received over 5.5M views, 1 million more than forecasted, with over 100,000 earned video views and an engagement rate increase on organic Instagram posts by 54% as fans and followers stepped up to #choosethefight and share their stories. Most importantly, the campaign's strong performance allowed Paula's Choice Skincare to drive donation goals to the Global Fund for Women, Women's Prison Association and Baby2Baby, benefitting the worthy women and children who matter most.
The Shorty Awards honor the best of social media by recognizing influencers, brands and organizations across social media. Past winners include Taylor Swift, Tyler Oakley, Casey Neistat, Hannibal Buress, Malala Yousafzai, Jenna Marbles, J.K. Rowling, and Adele.
Paula's Choice was founded in 1995 by internationally renowned beauty and skincare expert, Paula Begoun, and based on a commitment to customer advocacy and education that is still the core of the brand's philosophy.
