WASHINGTON, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Patients and scientists from across the country are featured in the latest "From Hope to Cures" ad campaign launched today by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), which represents the country's leading biopharmaceutical researchers and biotechnology companies.
This continuation of PhRMA's "From Hope to Cures" campaign, first launched in January 2014, highlights the value biopharmaceutical innovation provides to patients, society and the economy. The latest ad campaign, featuring print, radio and digital advertising, highlights the stories of patients who benefit from the medicines developed by biopharmaceutical companies and the scientists who work every day to develop life-saving treatments and cures.
"Patients need to be front and center of any discussion about the future of health care in America," said PhRMA President and CEO John J. Castellani. "Continuing to incentivize the development of new treatments and cures will enable patients to live longer and healthier lives, help create a more sustainable health care system and drive our economy forward."
The campaign website, www.FromHopetoCures.org, is updated with new resources, including patient and researcher videos; data and information on progress fighting specific diseases; and an interactive state map demonstrating the economic benefit the industry provides in each state.
The "From Hope to Cures" campaign seeks to educate health care stakeholders, opinion leaders, policymakers and members of the media on the following key areas:
The value medicines provide to patients;
The role of biopharmaceutical innovation in creating a more sustainable health care system;
The long, costly and complex process to develop a new medicine, test it and bring it to the market; and
The role the biopharmaceutical industry plays as a job creator and engine of economic growth.
The new ads utilize the themes HOPE, POSSIBLE, CURABLE and POWER to highlight patients from all walks of life, including: Matt, an adult six-year lung cancer survivor; Nicholas, a young child fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia; and Hydeia, who is 30 years old and has been battling HIV/AIDS since she was three years old. The campaign also features researchers like Janet who wake up every day trying to beat the odds and develop new treatments and cures for patients.
