CINCINNATI, July 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- PatientPoint®, the trusted leader in patient engagement committed to making every doctor-patient engagement better, has named David Guthrie as Chief Product Officer. Guthrie is a high-profile innovator, strategist, entrepreneur and investor in the technology and life sciences industries, bringing nearly 30 years of experience to PatientPoint.
As Chief Product Officer, Guthrie is responsible for directing the PatientPoint product roadmap, overseeing both new product development as well as current product enhancements. The omnichannel PatientPoint engagement platform leverages digital and mobile technology to deliver award-winning, personalized content at key points along the patient journey. The addition of Guthrie aligns with the company's continued innovation and development of solutions that enable providers to engage in ongoing, meaningful dialogue with patients both during office visits and between visits—when they often need it most.
"Healthcare is in the midst of a watershed moment in which 'point of care' is not necessarily defined by a physical location such as a physician office or hospital," said PatientPoint Founder and CEO Mike Collette. "I can't think of anyone better equipped than David to propel our technology forward and bring innovations that will help providers better educate and engage patients anywhere, anytime for better care and improved outcomes."
Guthrie is well-known in tech and venture capital circles for co-founding Medcast, a physician news and information service acquired by WebMD in 1997, and for serving as a WebMD Chief Technology Officer during the online giant's infancy. Following WebMD's initial public offering, Guthrie spent three years advising Atlanta-based venture capital firm Fuqua Ventures on early-stage technology investments. He then served as Chief Technology Officer of PGi, the world's largest dedicated provider of collaboration software and services, until the company's acquisition in December 2015. Since that time, Guthrie has continued to serve on the board of PGi and as a strategic technology advisor to six healthcare and communication companies.
Guthrie's arrival follows many significant PatientPoint accomplishments over the past year. Last summer, PatientPoint announced a $140 million capital raise to dramatically expand its digital point-of-care network. Soon after, the company announced a partnership with Reflect, the largest provider of digital signage solutions in North America, to power and expand its digital capabilities. In August 2017, the company acquired leading digital oncology waiting room provider Patient Education Network. Last fall, PatientPoint entered into a partnership with The Veteran Group to offer its communication platform to Veterans Affairs and other federal healthcare provider facilities. The company has also recently announced partnerships with Shatterproof™, the American Lung Association®, the National Breast Cancer Foundation® and the V Foundation for Cancer Research® to leverage the leading PatientPoint platform to raise awareness of each nonprofit at the powerful point of care.
