CINCINNATI, April 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Patient engagement leader PatientPoint® and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) today announced a partnership to bring empowering blood cancer education and coping tools to patients and caregivers in more than 600 oncology practices nationwide. Through their partnership, PatientPoint and LLS will deliver interactive blood cancer education and information about free LLS resources via exam-room touchscreens and digital screens in the physician back office.
Every three minutes, someone in the U.S. is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. More than 174,000 Americans received a blood cancer diagnosis in 2018. As the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer, LLS aims to improve the quality of life of patients and families navigating blood cancer until researchers end the disease for good.
By joining forces, PatientPoint and LLS will reach more patients, families and physicians with best-in-class education and direct access to LLS support programs in the moments they need it most.
"Partnering with PatientPoint helps us fulfill such a critical part of our mission: to bring hope, guidance, education and support to patients during and after their diagnosis and treatment," said Elisa Weiss, senior vice president of patient access and outcomes for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. "By extending our message to the point of care—where important conversations are taking place between doctors and patients—we can ensure patients have access to the help and care they need."
In the exam room, the organizations collaborated on touchscreen mantle cell lymphoma education and eye-catching banner ads to promote LLS's Information Specialist services and financial support programs. The interactive platform, called PatientPoint® Interact™, features videos, 3D anatomicals and other multimedia learning tools designed to help patients better understand their diagnosis, support patient-physician discussions and reinforce key steps for treatment compliance. Mantle cell lymphoma content joins a wealth of best-in-class education on blood cancers—as well as more than 20 additional cancer types—available on the platform.
The partnership also promotes LLS support programs in the physician back office. Bulletins on LLS services, clinical trials, continuing medical education programs and more are highlighted via the PatientPoint® Access™ physician medical news program designed for the oncology back office. The digital screens keep busy oncology practices informed throughout the day with digital "at-a-glance" medical news and practice updates.
"We're honored to partner with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to work toward our common goals of educating patients and caregivers, informing them of critical resources and empowering them to make the best possible healthcare decisions," said PatientPoint Founder and CEO Mike Collette. "Through our partnership with LLS, we look forward to connecting patients, caregivers and physicians with this critically important organization at the point of care—and beyond."
