BOSTON, June 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- PatientPing, a health technology company that connects providers to seamlessly coordinate patient care, announced today it has partnered with Marietta, Ga.-based WellStar Health System, the largest health system in Georgia.
This partnership with WellStar's comprehensive health system will encompass their 11 hospitals, eight urgent care centers, three skilled nursing facilities and three inpatient hospices, among other locations within the system. Providers across the state will be notified when their patients are admitted, discharged or transferred to/from a WellStar facility.
"At WellStar, we pride ourselves on delivering world-class healthcare to our patients," said Kam Sooknanan, assistant vice president of population management, WellStar Health System. "In today's healthcare environment, it is important for physicians, advance practice professionals and multidisciplinary care teams to deliver innovative, high-quality care in both the hospital and outpatient setting. We will be giving our providers real-time access to data that can better create a coordinated approach to each patient's care."
PatientPing advances medical information transparency between health care providers by applying its nimble technology to improve patient care. Upon joining PatientPing, providers receive real-time notifications, or "Pings", whenever their patients receive care at a wide range of facilities in Georgia and beyond. Providers also receive care instructions that include care program affiliation, contact information for the patient's care team as well as patient visit histories. By receiving this information in real time, providers can engage and coordinate during the patient's healthcare event, prevent duplication of services, reduce avoidable readmissions, and ensure safer care transitions for their shared patients. Patients get care from many providers; PatientPing makes it easy for them to coordinate with one another.
"We look forward to creating an enormous, positive change across the entire patient care continuum in Georgia and beyond," said Jay Desai, Co-founder & CEO, PatientPing. "PatientPing is establishing the nation's largest community of providers working together to coordinate patient care and reduce health care costs through real-time data sharing, and it's an honor to launch Georgia with the wildly innovative team at WellStar."
PatientPing's network includes tens of thousands of providers nationwide. In December 2016, PatientPing announced $31.6 million funding led by Andreessen Horowitz. PatientPing is rapidly accelerating its nationwide expansion so that any providers who share patients anywhere in the country can coordinate simply and effectively with one another.
