DURHAM, N.C., and KIRKLAND, Wash., Dec. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Parata Systems and Talyst, leading providers of pharmacy technology solutions, have announced a partnership that will give their respective markets greater access to pharmacy automation that increases patient safety and provides a positive financial impact.
This partnership will be showcased in New Orleans from Dec. 6-10 at the 2015 American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Midyear Clinical Meeting, where more than 20,000 pharmacy professionals will focus on improving patient care and medication safety. Parata will join Talyst in booth #1319 to exhibit one of its automated dispensing solutions, Parata Mini®.
"As the only company that wakes up thinking about inpatient hospital pharmacy, we deeply understand the needs of pharmacy management and staff," said Carla Corkern, CEO of Talyst. "We also see the needs of their counterparts in outpatient pharmacies and look forward to connecting pharmacies that would benefit from dispensing automation with Parata. This agreement expands our solution set so we can help our hospital partners optimize the pharmacy experience for both patients within the hospital and those headed home."
While Talyst and Parata have historically focused on different markets, changes in the health care industry are causing markets to converge. This partnership builds on the synergies between the two companies and brings additional solutions and benefits to each company's customers and prospects.
"We are thrilled to partner with Talyst and extend our reach in the hospital setting," said Mark Longley, executive vice president of sales, marketing, and business development, Parata. "As hospitals face increasing financial pressure and readmission penalties, outpatient pharmacies are taking on expanded clinical responsibilities and providing additional services to patients at discharge. Implementing Parata's industry leading medication dispensing automation gives the pharmacy staff more time to work closely with patients and physicians -- ultimately improving medication safety and patient outcomes."
Both companies share a common goal of reducing the financial and staff resources needed to complete daily pharmacy tasks while increasing safety and improving patient outcomes, and they look forward to expanding this exciting partnership.
"With these aligned goals, it is a natural fit for us to work together to provide best-in-class solutions to both the inpatient and outpatient hospital pharmacy," added Scott Starke, general manager of Talyst's Acute Care Division. "We believe organizations that have moved forward with Parata's pharmacy automation in the outpatient setting would be ideal targets for Talyst's solutions as they already understand the many advantages automated solutions can bring to pharmacy operations."
