NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off their first home game of the season with Panasonic Corporation of North America, bringing fans a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi experience. As the first major stadium in the country to implement Panasonic's Everest™ Network, Lincoln Financial Field served the 66,175 fans in attendance with Ultra-high density Wi-Fi capable of handling fans capturing, sharing, connecting and live streaming.
During the game, 24,447 active fans used 'Free Eagles Wi-Fi', each averaging over two hours connected to the system. At the point of peak usage, the system reliably delivered over 5Gbps of throughput, moving a total of 4.43TB of data.
"Panasonic's Everest system was the optimal choice for Lincoln Financial Field," said Don Smolenski, President of the Philadelphia Eagles. "It offered us the lowest total cost of ownership, incredible data speeds, and we didn't have to compromise the integrity of our building infrastructure. We view Everest as the next generation of stadium Wi-Fi, and a great investment in our fan experience."
"Everest's performance for the Eagles' home opener was exceptional," noted Danny Abelson, Vice President-Connectivity, Panasonic Enterprise Solutions. "The success metrics indicate a technology paradigm shift in sports and entertainment connectivity. Panasonic is grateful to the Eagles organization for its technology leadership and commitment to a great fan experience."
Eagles fans and patrons can expect an unmatched stadium experience at Lincoln Financial Field this season. With the Everest infrastructure in place, the Philadelphia Eagles and Panasonic can look to rollout additional mobile-based fan engagement experiences in the future that align with today's digital transformation, reinforcing the continued investment in the fan experience.
"Upgrading Lincoln Financial Field's Wi-Fi network is all part of our team's ongoing commitment to provide the best in-game experience for our fans," said John Pawling, the Eagle's CTO and Vice President of Information Technology.
Introduced in April 2017, Everest is the first Wi-Fi solution engineered from the ground up to overcome the challenges of serving thousands of people simultaneously in Ultra-high density environments. The technology is transforming the fan experience by addressing the needs of some of the largest and most demanding venues. Unlike conventional Wi-Fi solutions, Everest™ offers speeds typically five times that of legacy Wi-Fi systems, from access points mounted up to five times the distance, each able to serve 13 times more engagements per access point. Everest offers fans a significantly better user experience, venues a significantly lower Total Cost of Ownership.
