CHICAGO, March 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- PACO Collective (PACO) announced today that it struck gold — twice! — at the American Advertising Awards last Thursday. The American Advertising Awards, formerly the ADDYs, is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year in local American Advertising Federation Club competitions.
The cross-cultural agency won two (2) gold ADDY awards, one each for spots related to its campaign for the ComEd Energy Efficiency Program, an ongoing effort to educate customers on how to better manage their energy usage and to create awareness about ComEd resources that will help them lower their energy costs.
PACO CEO and Co-Founder Ozzie Godinez said the gold awards represent benchmark spots for the agency. "I am extremely proud that PACO was recognized for what we do best — promote responsible brands so they resonate with consumers through their habits and choices of everyday life," he said.
PACO CCO and Co-Founder Pablo Acosta said the two gold awards recognize what the agency set out to achieve since the very beginning. "From day one we wanted to push our brands to be more creative in their messaging so consumers would give them a second look," he said. "With these campaigns we succeeded at highlighting the ComEd Energy Efficiency program in a way that consumers will know it as always on their side."
A gold ADDY is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and is judged as superior to all other entries in its category. PACO received the awards in the following categories: Television Commercial — Regional/National for "Control Saves" and In-Theatre Commercial or Slides for "Hot Dog Cool Cat."
Both gold-winning spots use animation, humor and clever juxtaposition to illustrate the importance of keeping costs down and the ease that ComEd offers consumers to monitor and control their energy use through energy-efficient products. In "Control Saves," animation brings an electrical outlet to life so viewers can see how a ComEd bill was reduced thanks to the use of a smart thermostat.
The animated outlet also appears in "Hot Dog Cool Cat," which follows the adventure of the family dog and cat as both adjust the smart thermostat to their liking when home alone. Movie theater audiences throughout Illinois saw the spot as a 60-second trailer to the feature presentation.
"These spots really resonated with our customers and helped them to see us as not just an energy company, but a community partner that cares," said Val Jensen, senior vice president of Customer Operations, ComEd. "We're proud of the partnership we have with PACO and congratulate the agency on its industry recognition as the standard-bearer of excellence."
