PA State Police Offers Three-Day Seminar for Crash Investigators
Free Training Offers Insight into Causes of Vehicle Collisions
HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- More than 200 crash investigators from the United States and Canada are expected to attend the 10th annual Collision Reconstruction Seminar being offered by the Pennsylvania State Police from Sept. 28-30 in State College, Commissioner Frank E. Pawlowski announced today.
The seminar is funded by a grant from AAA Mid-Atlantic, the Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education, and the AAA Mid-Atlantic Insurance Group. Pawlowski said state police does not charge a fee to participants.
"The goal of the three-day event is to provide top-quality collision investigation training to law enforcement reconstructionists," Pawlowski said. "The training helps investigators to better determine what factors caused or contributed to a crash. That information helps us to better educate the driving public, design safer roads and build safer vehicles.
"In these days of tight budgets, it's crucial for police departments to find affordable ways to obtain high-quality training for their specialized investigators," he added.
He said several national experts in the field of crash reconstruction will speak on collision-related topics and a car-to-car collision with be staged in conjunction with the University of Tulsa Crash Consortium.
A limited number of spaces remain available for those interested in participating. To apply, contact Cpl. Mark Pezzano at 610-584-8633.
"The seminar allows reconstructionists to network with each other and explore new ideas and technology in this dynamic field," Pawlowski said.
