Outland Named One of Top Workplaces in Minnesota
Mid-sized Wind Company Earns Employees' Seal of Approval
CANBY, Minn., June 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Outland, an independent Minnesota-based provider of operations and maintenance services to the North American wind power industry, announced today that it was recognized by the Minneapolis Star Tribune as one of the Top Workplaces in Minnesota.
This is the first year that Outland was nominated and named one of the best places to work in Minnesota, with the company ranked amongst the top 140 mid-sized companies in this year's survey. The program, administered by Workplace Dynamics, is based on survey feedback from Outland employees, and asks employees about the company's values and corporate culture.
The accreditation recognizes Outland as a workplace that rewards individual achievement and promotes personal development. Employees nominated their employers and were surveyed about several topics, including practices and policies that make these companies the top places to work. The companies were ranked based on leadership, compensation and training, workplace flexibility, and diversity.
"Our goals are to make each employee feel valued, respected, safe in their work environment, to provide opportunities for career growth, and to actively participate in the communities where we live and work. This honor illustrates that Outland is achieving these goals," said Deb VanDerostyne, Outland Director of HR and Risk Management. "It reinforces Outland as an exciting place to build a career out on the wind farms or at our corporate offices in Canby or Mendota Heights. This recognition will help us to continue to attract and retain valuable talent."
"We are thrilled that our Minnesota employees have chosen us as a top workplace," said Steve Scott, President and COO, Outland. "Our growth as a Minnesota-based independent service provider and the value we deliver to our clients is a direct result of the values, vision and energy of our people."
Outland expects to hire more than 40 new employees in 2011 in the areas of wind farm operations and maintenance. Employees enjoy competitive salaries, an opportunity to own shares of the company, and a comprehensive benefits package that focuses on a wellness program.
