CLEVELAND, Feb. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- In the Outdoor Kitchens study from Freedonia Group, demand for outdoor kitchen cabinets, drawers, and access doors is forecast to expand 4.0% annually to $67 million in 2022. These components will benefit as new outdoor kitchen islands are installed in formats that do not include built-in storage. The increasing prevalence of mass-market prefabricated islands – which tend to be designed for cabinet, drawer, and access door inserts rather than the built-in storage included in higher-end types – will be the main driver of new growth. Installations of site-built outdoor kitchens will also support gains, since these also often use inserts for storage.
According to analyst Matt Breuer, "Compared to the 2007-2017 period, cabinets, drawers, and access doors have maintained steadier growth rates than prefabricated islands. Whereas islands face increasing pricing pressure stemming from an influx of mass-market versions, pricing for cabinets, drawers, and access doors is relatively stable. These components tend to be of basic construction and styling, limiting pricing competition."
Cabinets, drawers, and access doors also maintain a slightly stronger market for upgrades and replacements compared to prefabricated islands since they are smaller, less expensive, typically basic, and easier to replace. Some brands – including Meyer's Aspire by Hestan and Hestan Outdoor and RH Peterson's Fire Magic – offer more high-end versions of these products, including drawers and access doors stylized with colored accents, encouraging outdoor kitchen owners to upgrade and customize their outdoor kitchen storage systems.
