Oprah Winfrey Surprises WW Members With Calls To Celebrate Their Weight Loss Success
New Marketing Campaign Features Winfrey Speaking with WW Members About Why "It Works"
NEW YORK, March 29, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, WW – the new Weight Watchers® (NASDAQ: WTW) – revealed its new U.S. marketing campaign for spring, "It Works," featuring Oprah Winfrey, who is both an active WW board member and WW member, surprising members with a video call to celebrate their weight loss success on the program. During their one-on-one conversations, Winfrey speaks candidly with fellow members about their experience on WW and why "It Works." The campaign launches Sunday, March 31.
"This campaign allows people to hear directly from our members about why WW works," said Gail Tifford, Chief Brand Officer at WW. "Every day, our members achieve their goals and develop healthier habits with the efficacy of our science-based program, the power of our community, and the simplicity of our technology. The energy and joy they share with Oprah in these calls is contagious, and we hope that people who want to lose weight or get healthy are inspired and trust that WW can work for them, too."
"I love connecting with WW members because while each of their stories is unique, there is also something universal about our shared experience," said Ms. Winfrey. "I am constantly inspired by the WW community – to learn from them, to talk openly about our victories and our challenges. I've tried everything, and WW just works for me and my life."
The members featured in the campaign include:
- Eric G. [age 35], a certified nursing assistant from California who lost 168 pounds and gained meaningful health improvements and a sense of pride
- Favin G. [age 34], a philanthropy officer residing in Boston who lost 32 pounds and gained confidence, self-worth and self-esteem
- Jennifer K. [age 38], a stay-at-home mom from South Carolina who lost 72 pounds and gained self-love and respect
- Christa L. [age 31], a teacher from Virginia who lost 55 pounds and gained energy and stamina
The WW program works because it's grounded in science, enabled by technology and powered by community.
