WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Oct. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Corporation, one of the nation's leading providers of information and communications products and services, today announced that Olympusat Holdings, Inc.'s Telecom business division, Olympusat Telecom, has selected Comcast Business Class Ethernet services to expedite the transfer of bandwidth-intensive video content and to support digital production services and back office operations.

Olympusat Telecom provides comprehensive end-to-end video solutions to media companies and video-centric enterprise customers in the United States and Latin America, including satellite uplink, master control, video transport, digital production and content delivery networks and services. Since its business focuses on managing and transferring large volumes of bandwidth-intensive video content, Olympusat Telecom needed reliable, high-capacity network connectivity for its new master control headquarters in West Palm Beach, Fla.
"Over the past year, we have rapidly grown our customer base and moved our master control facilities to West Palm Beach, both of which necessitated our need for scalable bandwidth," said C. Austin Powers, president, Olympusat Telecom. "Additionally, our master control and creative services teams work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are constantly uploading and sending content to networks all over the world. With more customers than ever before, our existing circuits couldn't support our growing bandwidth needs and were taking far too long to transfer data – and in our business, time is money."
Olympusat Telecom turned to Comcast Business Class Ethernet because it is a high-speed, fiber-based service that gives the company complete network diversity compared to other facility-based carriers for improved reliability. The company is now using a 500 Megabits-per-second (Mbps) Ethernet connection, but has the capability to accelerate to 2 Gigabits-per-second (Gbps), and plans to leverage Comcast's network scalability in the near future.
Using Comcast's high-speed Ethernet services, Olympusat Telecom can now seamlessly upload all video content via a file transfer protocol (FTP) site to Multiple System Operator (MSO) systems faster than ever before. Additionally, Comcast's Ethernet services also expedite digital production services and back office operations.
"Comcast's mantra that 'business can't wait' is the exact reason why we turned to the company's Ethernet service, and it has made a tremendous impact on our business," added Powers. "We are now experiencing lightning-fast speeds, which has helped us increase productivity and enhance customer service. Not only did Comcast deliver on its promise, but the benefits of its service have far exceeded what we ever thought possible."
"Video and other digital content can be extremely bandwidth intensive, and for a company like Olympusat Telecom, where it's the focal point of the business, a reliable, high-performance network is a necessity," said David Lynch, vice president, Comcast Business Services, Florida region. "Olympusat knows that we aren't just the company's service provider, but rather a strategic business partner that strives to provide a reliable service that meets its needs now and in the future."
