Ogilvy Salutes National Hispanic Heritage Month With LatinRed's Second Annual La Feria Celebration
"La Feria: Vivimos, or Else" Unites Ogilvy Family Through Latin Culture, Community and Founder's Values and Principles
NEW YORK, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- In salute of Hispanic Heritage Month, Ogilvy & Mather's professional network, LatinRed, will host its second annual La Feria (the fair) for its employees, key clients, and the neighboring community. The event, "La Feria: Vivimos, or Else," ("we live, or else") provides an opportunity for all to learn about the various Latin cultures within the Ogilvy network. The theme "Vivimos, or Else," plays upon founder David Ogilvy's legacy for wanting to inspire, achieve greatness and live life to the fullest (or else). Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 through October 15.
The event is dedicated to providing support and education to all employees who identify with Latin culture and the community, and will showcase various countries of Latin origin such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, and Puerto Rico.
"Since its foundation, Ogilvy has a mission to embrace all cultures, people and ideas. These are the very principles David Ogilvy cherished that we still uphold today. That is what makes LatinRed and this event so special," said Gunther Schumacher, Chief Operating Officer, OgilvyOne Worldwide and Executive Sponsor of LatinRed. "La Feria is much more than a party. We are celebrating our many cultures and diversity together as one. 'Vivimos, or Else' is key. We live together — as one, every day."
"La Feria: Vivimos, or Else" begins at 4:30 pm and runs until 7:30pm, and takes place at Ogilvy's global headquarters in Manhattan, located at the Chocolate Factory on the West Side. The event is freeform, with various stations representing a sampling of Latin countries. Attendees will again have the opportunity to experience the 'essence' of the various cultures. They will taste different Latin cuisines and beverages provided by neighborhood restaurants, such as Cuba, Cafe Bustelo, and Pan Latin; view sample exhibits by La Sirena; enjoy live entertainment from Ballet Hispanico, Aztec Dancers and the Piel Canela Dance Company; see Capoeira, which is Afro-Brazilian martial art; and more.
As part of this initiative, Ogilvy has been promoting the event internally as well. The LatinRed team, with more than 150 members in its New York office alone, developed a campaign, entitled, "Vivimos, or Else," supported by print executions, online, email and print signage, displayed throughout the building. The creative uses the iconic image of founder David Ogilvy, showing his passion for Latin culture by donning the garb of iconic Latin figures such as Simon Bolivar and Che Guevara.
"Last year's event, which had more than 500 attendees, was an introduction to the Ogilvy 'Latino' family for everyone. Ogilvy became 'Hispanic for a Day' and together, we discovered so much about the various cultures and about ourselves as well," said Schumacher. "But this year, it's not just an opportunity to give back to our employees and the community. With 'Vivimos or Else,' we are rediscovering the Latin side of Ogilvy again, and embracing our Ogilvy heritage as well."
