Ogilvy & Mather's Black Professional Network to Host 'Face the Facts: Diversifying the Industry from Inside Out'
NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ogilvy & Mather's Black Diaspora Professional Network will host 'Face the Facts: Diversifying the Industry from Inside Out,' a conversation about how the communications industry can better reflect America's changing racial landscape through improved internal practices.
As of 2010, approximately 1 in 3 people living in the United States were racial minorities. And it's projected that by 2050, those numbers will rise to 54%, making minorities the new majority. While heavy focus has been placed on reaching multicultural markets, the industry has also recently begun to take steps to diversify talent in a way that reflects the new realities of the country.
How will this demographic shift impact our workforce? What can the industry do to reflect the cultural breadth of the new majority? Keynote speaker, Ola Mobolade, will offer best practices on how we can effectively shift in tandem with our target audiences on Monday, October 27, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Ogilvy Theater, located at 636 11th Avenue, NYC.
Ms. Mobolade is a Harvard-educated marketing expert, Managing Director at Firefly Millward Brown, and author of the book "Marketing to the New Majority." Her provocative insights will explore the wins and failures of media companies that have already embarked on this journey. She will provide actionable success principles for creating, maintaining, and leveraging a culture of difference throughout the entire industry.
This is a continuation of Ogilvy & Mather's cross-cultural point of view for the marketplace. Our hope is that conversations around best practices will help expedite the process in the best way possible for both the industry and for clients. In order to remain industry leaders, we will need to be at the forefront of change by leading these kinds of conversations and taking actionable steps that bring about real results.
