OfficeMax and Chicago Public Schools Team up to Bring Kids a Special Summer Music Treat
1,000 Jonas Brothers 'Live In Concert' Tickets Go To Kids In Year-Round School Program
NAPERVILLE, Ill., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- OfficeMax® (NYSE: OMX), a leader in office products and services and sponsor of the Jonas Brothers Live In Concert with special guest Demi Lovato and the cast of Camp Rock 2, is donating 1,000 tickets to the Saturday, August 7 tour kick-off concert to the Chicago Public Schools to help give kids a special summer treat.
The 1,000 tickets will be distributed by the Chicago Public Schools to children at five multi-track, or year-round, schools. The tickets will reward good grades, attendance, citizenship and leadership skills. Each child selected will receive three tickets to the concert. In addition to attending the concert themselves, they may share their experience with parents, siblings or friends. In exchange for the concert tickets, the Chicago Public Schools will ask the students to pledge to continue to earn good grades, attend classes and demonstrate good citizenship and leadership skills.
"We are pleased that OfficeMax has partnered with Chicago Public Schools to encourage attendance, academic discipline and leadership. CPS and OfficeMax are committed to the notion that students should be in school every day to grow and achieve. This incentive is a welcome way of demonstrating to students in our multi-track schools -- many of whom have already been in school for a month -- that we recognize and appreciate their hard work and commitment," said Barbara Lumpkin, Deputy CEO, External Affairs and Partnership.
The children attending the concert will enjoy special OfficeMax activities at the concert, including a poster and card making station, where kids can write their own messages on either a poster to hold up during the concert or on a card that will be delivered backstage to the artists after the show. Other OfficeMax activities presented are a photo station, where kids can pose with life-sized cut-outs of the Jonas Brothers in a school setting and upload photos online for printing and sharing, and a temporary tattoo station.
"As a Chicago-area company that dedicates its support to teachers, education and the community, OfficeMax wanted to bring the opportunity to see a summer blockbuster concert to area children," said Bob Thacker, senior vice president of marketing for OfficeMax. "We commend the Chicago Public Schools for their work with children and are extremely pleased to collaborate with them in this and many more worthwhile projects in the future."
