Turkish passenger car and light commercial vehicle total market decreased 19.25% in January-September period of 2014 compared to the same period of the previous year, to 473,498. In the first nine months of 2013, a total market sales value of 586,345 was reached.
Passenger car sales went down 18.92% in January-September period of 2014, compared the same period of the last year, to 366,768. In the first nine months of 2013, 452,354 purchases were made.
In the first nine months of 2014, light commercial vehicle market decreased 20.35%, in comparison to the year before, to 106,730. Last year, the sales reached 133,991.
Passenger Car and Light Commercial Vehicle Market Showed a Decrease of 2% in September 2014.
Passenger Car Market Decreased 7%, Light Commercial Vehicle Market Increased 15%.
In September 2014, passenger car and light commercial vehicle market decreased to 66,531. In comparison to the total number of 67,963 in September 2013 in the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market, the sales went down in a ratio of 2.11%.
In September 2014, passenger car sales went down by 6.92% in comparison to the same month of the year before and became 49,262.
Light commercial vehicle market increased 14.84% in September 2014 compared to September 2013, to 17,269.
In the first nine months of 2014, a decrease of 18.13% in the sales of passenger cars below 1600cc and 35.89% in the sales of passenger cars with a 1600-2000cc motor volume was observed. As for the sales of the passenger cars over 2000cc, a decrease of 3.27% was observed. 20 electric cars with engine power output below 85kW and 3 electric cars with engine power output over 121kW have been sold in the first nine months of 2014.
When the average emission values of the passenger car market in the first nine months of 2014 are considered, the passenger cars between 100-120g/km took the largest piece of the pie with a ratio of 39.25% and with a number of 143,973.
In the first nine months of 2014, diesel passenger car sales grabbed a share of 62.51%, while the automatic transmission passenger cars had a share of 45.98%.
In the first nine months of 2014, 83.47% of the passenger car market segment again consisted of the vehicles in the A, B and C segments whose tax ratios are low. The highest sales numbers according to segments were reached in Segment C with a share of 52.12% (a quantity of 191,166) and according to frame, the most preferred body type was the Sedan (47.98%, a quantity of 175,992).
Passenger car and light commercial vehicle market went down in the first, second and third quarters of 2014 at ratios of 24.46%, 25.12%, and 8.78%, respectively.
In the first nine months of 2014:
- Increases in rates of exchange and interest,
- Increase in passenger car SCT rates,
- Restrictions imposed by BDDK (Banking Regulatory and Supervisory Agency) toward credit transactions,
- Deceleration in growth,
- Slowdown in private sector consumption and investments,
caused a reduction of 19.25% in the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market.

In September 2014, passenger car and light commercial vehicle market presented a sales number of 66,531. In comparison to the total number of 67,963 in September 2013 in the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market, the sales went down in a ratio of 2.11%.

In the first nine months of 2014, passenger car sales went down by 18.92% in comparison to the same period of the year before and became 366,768. In the same period of the last year, the sales reached 452,354.
In September 2014, passenger car sales went down by 6.92% in comparison to the same month of the year before and became 49,262. In September of the last year, sales reached 52,925.
The passenger car market, in comparison to the average 10-year September sales, showed an increase of 26.81%.
The "Seasonally Annual Adjusted Rate" of the passenger car market was around 570,000 for September 2014.
In January-September period of 2014, light commercial vehicle sales decreased 20.35% in comparison to the same period of the last year, to 106,730. In the same period of the last year, the sales reached 133,991.
Light commercial vehicle market increased 14.84% in September 2014 compared to September 2013, to 17,269. In September 2013, the sales presented a number of 15,038.
The light commercial vehicle market, in comparison to the average 10-year September sales, showed a decrease of 17%.
The "Seasonally Annual Adjusted Rate" of the light commercial vehicle market was around 180,000 for September 2014.
When the January-September period of 2014 passenger car market is studied in terms of engine volume, the biggest slice of the pie was taken by passenger cars under 1600cc with a ratio of 94.91% and a number of 348,083. Passenger cars between 1600 to 2000cc followed them with a ratio of 4.08% and passenger cars above 2000cc with a ratio of 1.01%. In comparison with the same period of 2013, a decrease of 18.13% in the sales of passenger cars below 1600cc and 35.89% in the sales of passenger cars with a 1600-2000cc motor volume was observed. As for the sales of the passenger cars over 2000cc, a decrease of 3.27% was observed. 20 electric cars with engine power output below 85kW and 3 electric cars with engine power output over 121kW have been sold in the first nine months of 2014.

When the January-September period of 2014 passenger car market is studied in terms of average emission values, passenger cars between 100-120 gr/km have the highest share of 39.25% (143,973) and following this, passenger cars between 120-140 gr/km have a share of 31.53% (115,629).

Diesel passenger car sales in January-September period of 2014 decreased 14.27% in comparison to the same period last year. Diesel share in passenger car sales in the end of September 2014, when compared to the same period of 2013, have increased from 59.12% to 62.51% (229,273).

In January-September of 2014, automatic transmission passenger car sales numbers, in comparison to the same period in 2013, decreased 1.64%. In 2014, automatic transmission passenger car sale shares in the first nine months, in comparison to the same period last year, increased from 37.90% to 45.98% (a number of 168,649).

In January-September period of 2014, 83.47% of the passenger car market segment again consisted of the vehicles in the A, B and C segments whose tax ratios are low. When evaluated according to segments, Segment C with a share of 52.12% has the highest sales volume (191,166) and Segment B follows it with a share of 30.58% (112,160).
In January-September period of 2014, when evaluated according to frame, most preferred body type was again Sedan (47.98%, a quantity of 175,992). Following Sedan passenger cars, Hatchback frame with a share of 33.42% and a sales volume of 122,585 and SUV with a share of 12.26% and total sales volume of 44,975.
