Nyansa Eliminates IT Information Overload to Save Enterprises Millions of Dollars and Months Chasing User and Network Issues
New Voyance network analytics capabilities use machine learning to help companies quickly and easily triage real-time user incidents and systemic service issues
PALO ALTO, Calif., June 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Nyansa, Inc. ("ni-ans-sah"), a fast-growing innovator of a new generation of network analytics software technology, today announced the immediate availability of unique new IT analytics capabilities that can save businesses months of valuable time and millions of dollars in IT costs associated with resolving individual client and system-wide network issues that degrade user productivity on enterprise computer networks.
In a recent report from HIS/Infonetics entitled The Cost of Server, Application and Network Downtime, medium and large businesses in North America revealed they are losing hundreds of millions of dollars each year due to the downtime of information and communication technology (ICT) with network services, infrastructure and client connectivity problems representing the majority of these costs. ICT downtime costs ranged from $1 million a year for mid-sized enterprise to over $60 million annually for large-scale organizations.
Innovative Machine Learning Helps Automatically Get to the Root of Problems
Requiring no changes to existing network infrastructure, new hardware, sensors or client software of any kind, Nyansa's Voyance network analytics SAAS service leverages machine learning techniques and big data analytics on information gleaned from the network to determine the root cause and remediation of immediate client network incidents as well as longer term systemic client and infrastructure issues. Machine learning is an algorithmic technique that uses vast amounts of data to detect as well as predict problems within a system.
With the new service enhancements, Voyance is the first network analytics solution to differentiate and breakdown client and infrastructure incidents that require immediate attention versus long-term systemic issues for every measured network service metric.
Fixing systemic issues requires analyzing client, network and incident patterns persisting over weeks or months versus making decisions based on minutes or hours worth of data. This enables IT staff to radically reduce the time needed to tediously triage different network problems that negatively impact the user experience and proactively focus IT resources where they are needed most.
Automatic Network Service Benchmarking Now Made Possible
The new Voyance analytics capabilities eliminate the costly, cumbersome manual analysis of volumes of raw client and network data required by today's analytics alternatives that typically only focus on a specific part of the network.
With Voyance, enterprises can now automatically identify and prioritize real-time incidents with specificity for each client while also assessing system-wide network issues – benchmarking trends, summarizing symptoms, identifying root causes and suggesting remediation steps on which IT staff can take immediate or longer-term action.
System-wide network issues are automatically categorized by their deviation from an established baseline and can be objectively compared against generated industry benchmarks. For each network issue, Voyance automatically detects and lists the most challenging locations within the customer environment so IT staff can quickly pinpoint where to gain greater insight to fix potential problem areas.
In plain English, Voyance summarizes and lists the most common root causes and remediation options, most affected clients and location-specific key client and infrastructure attributes. The issue loop closes after a fix is made and the change is annotated in the baseline trend. This allows before and after analysis to verify whether infrastructure changes have improved or degraded the user experience.
"Customers have never been able to effectively triage systemic infrastructure issues like this," said Anand Srinivas, co-founder and chief technical officer at Nyansa. "In a matter of seconds customers now definitively know how virtually every aspect of the network is performing and quickly see the areas where IT can most effectively focus attention and resources. This just hasn't been possible across enterprise networks before using any single product or service."
Proactive Network Planning and Problem Solving Redefined
Now, within a single snapshot view of the entire wired and wireless infrastructure, dozens of different network service metrics are continuously analyzed, prioritized and compared over time against industry benchmarks. These include a myriad of measurements including Client Wi-Fi, web and application performance, DNS, DHCP and RADIUS protocol and latency issues and Internet congestion. Additionally, context-relevant attributes –– most client locations, users, devices, access points, SSIDs, VLANs, etc. –– are also measured.
Voyance automatically generates a baseline for every network service or application performance metric that can be measured against an objective industry benchmark. When issues arise, Voyance suggests root causes and suggested next steps in easily actionable plain English. For systemic issues, machine-learning algorithms are employed to find relevant patterns in data spanning weeks and months.
In action, Voyance can use a month or more's worth of data to identify that wireless users in a particular building have RADIUS connectivity issues every morning at a certain time because they are all connected to a particular SSID and/or Wireless LAN (WLAN) controller. Existing systems simply do not have the analytical capability to detect and proactively identify and reveal these types of system-wide patterns for all client, network and application services.
With this information IT staff can now, at a glance, quickly understand the severity of different infrastructure issues, direct IT attention where it needs to be focused while identifying potential capacity or congestion problems that need proactive solutions.
