NASHUA, N.H., Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- NTP Software® today announced its support of the new NetApp FAS8000 unified scale-out storage systems, new NetApp FlexArray virtualization software, and the latest release of NetApp's flagship operating system – clustered Data ONTAP. NetApp had previously announced the new enterprise storage systems and virtualization software on February 19.
NTP Software has worked closely with NetApp for the past 10 years to create solutions that enhance the control and management of unstructured data across the entire NetApp file data storage environment. NTP Software's technology complements NetApp's solutions to provide comprehensive and seamless management of NetApp products, allowing for complete file data management.
The new NetApp® FAS8000 series is the first enterprise storage system to unify SAN, NAS, and storage virtualization into a single hybrid array. It is NetApp's first FAS platform designed specifically for scale-out storage environments built on clustered Data ONTAP. With NetApp's new FlexArray virtualization software, NetApp V-Series becomes a software option that can be licensed on the FAS8000. FlexArray enables the FAS8000 to virtualize and manage multi-vendor data storage platforms. The latest release of clustered Data ONTAP extends nondisruptive operations (NDOs) and improves data security and management of CIFS environments.
"NetApp has truly upped the ante for how customers will approach their storage environments today and into the future with the announcement of FAS8000, FlexArray, and clustered Data ONTAP," said Bruce Backa, CEO of NTP Software. "We are dedicated to working with our strategic partners to provide the best solutions on the market to control and manage their data. As such, we are pleased to offer our support of this new release through both the design and testing of FPolicy within clustered Data ONTAP, as well as by providing simple migrations of existing NTP Software infrastructure."
NTP Software and NetApp have been working together on the design and testing of FPolicy in clustered Data ONTAP environments to ensure that partner applications connected to NetApp storage systems are able to monitor and control file access operations. Ensuring the interoperation within this framework allows NetApp customers looking to leverage advanced features of FPolicy-based partner solutions to do so in a simple, straightforward manner.
"Storage management using policies is essential for enterprises in explosive storage growth environments," said Tim Russell, VP of Solutions Product Management, NetApp. "Technology partners like NTP Software offer a way for NetApp customers to easily maximize their storage investments by analyzing usage and defining data use policies."
