Novaworks Introduces New Legato 1.0 Scripting Language At ICI, Enabling Publicly Traded Companies And Filing Agents To Customize The "Last Mile" Of SEC Compliance
New functionality makes Novaworks' GoFiler software first in industry to allow SEC filers to integrate financial reporting software with existing databases and document production systems
Free Legato consultation and setup available
WASHINGTON, May 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- EDGAR conversion and filing software leader Novaworks announced the launch of Legato 1.0 today, just prior to the start of the 2015 Investment Company Institute (ICI) General Membership Meeting. Legato is the first scripting language that allows SEC filers to integrate existing financial reporting software with existing database and document production systems.
This innovative scripting language — which is part of Novaworks' industry-leading filing software suite, GoFiler — provides publicly traded companies, as well as filing agents and law firms that file to the SEC on behalf of public companies, with the ability to customize and integrate internal client systems with GoFiler.
"Novaworks is proud to offer current and prospective customers a completely new — and unique within the compliance industry — method of expanding and customizing the functionality of GoFiler," Novaworks President and CEO Scott Theis said. "Legato will increase the efficiency of staff that is responsible for SEC filing, expedite the sometimes tedious filing process and link filing software with existing external databases. We anticipate that Legato will really be a game-changing technology in the compliance and financial filing sector."
While Legato is embedded into Novaworks' latest versions of GoFiler 4.5 (GoFiler Complete, GoFiler, GoFiler Corporate, GoFiler Funds and GoXBRL), it can be used in conjunction with any product in the GoFiler family. Legato can be used as a standalone platform for building programs, a tool to add features and processing to various existing functionalities, or to expand or modify GoFiler's functions. "We have already employed Legato during the beta phase to implement a number of one-off features, such as consolidating CUSIP data for various SEC forms and driving the SEC XBRL validator directly with GoFiler," said Steve Horowitz, a developer at Novaworks. "Since Legato is a programming language in its own right, it can essentially perform any task with the added power of GoFiler's extensive library of EDGAR, HTML, XML and word processing functions."
Legato will be available starting May 11, 2015. During the introduction phase, Novaworks is offering free Legato consultations for those interested in learning more, as well free Legato setups for companies ready to start using this new filing and compliance technology.
"The ability to extend existing functionality, create new filing-related functions, integrate with existing databases and simplify the filing process are all 'must-haves' for those responsible for managing SEC filings," Theis said. "We invite anyone interested in learning more about how Legato can address these needs to contact us about a free consultation."
For additional information regarding Legato, as well as support of the development and completion of Legato projects, Novaworks can be contacted at [email protected] or by calling 585-424-1700. Attendees at the ICI General Membership Meeting can also visit Novaworks at booth #313.
